Hi everybody!

Just putting together a small company from a White Scars successor chapter of my own design, the Decapitators. In the fluff I'm writing, they are pretty enthusiastic about Thunderhawk Gunships. I am thinking about buying one. I had a few questions about it.

Is it any good?
Where can I find the rules for it?
Can it hold bikers/razorbacks?
How does it compete against other fliers?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place and TIA!

Well I've tried it and it can be ok; it is a lot of points to sink what with the other flyers you can play. I will agree and say it IS an iconic transport of the space marines too...

So to answer your questions

Is it any good?
It can be

Where can I find the rules for it?
I believe FW book Aeronautica is the most current? That or the Apoc 2nd edition that was released in August of this year

Can it hold bikers/razorbacks?
Depends on the one you field. One can haul around so many models, the other can haul 2 rhinos/land raiders I believe

How does it compete against other fliers?
Well, the one that can carry a bunch of models has many tl HBs, missiles or bombs and a D strength weapon of Awesome. So not really a dedicated AA model. The new Fire Eagle(?) I think is much more AA and since it's cheaper you can field 3-4 for the cost of a Thunderhawk (cheaper in terms of points and dollars equally oddly enough)

While the Thunderhawk is a big point sink, it's a great assault gunship; carries decent firepower and is fairly tough while flying. Once you hover to drop-off your troops it will get shredded, but it will hopefully have done its job.

1) Yes, it's good, I suggest putting the D weapon on it for extra umph and filling it with your best assault units (personally I'd go with assault termies)

2) Latest Apocalypse rulebook has its stats and rules

3) It can hold bikers but not rhinos/razorback (you need the Transporter variant for that)

4) Hard to answer, it's not an anti-flyer flyer, it's not a "uber-firepower" flyer (although the D cannon is pretty solid), I truly think that its purpose is to bring your finest warriors into the thick of it.

1.) Yes, I find it very durable. The ability to shrug off most results on the damage chart means it is always fully effective until destroyed.

2.) Latest Apoc Book

3.) It can hold Bikers and other models including multiple units at a time, which I find to be a bonus for such a trasnport.

4.) It compares well to other flyers due to the ability to always be fully functional and lethal until destruction. However, unlike Storm Eagles or other very good flyers for Marines...this has limited playability due to being a Super Heavy.

Additional Notes: As I love Apoc, and the idea of the Thunderhawk...I'd steer you to buy one. You'll be envied.
