I'd recommend the Minitaire set if it's still at a large (~50%) discount, I'm very happy with it for the price I paid. If it's not discounted heavily anymore, compare what you want from the following:
VMA:
* More muted, realistic/camo colours
* Matte, easy to brush on top of
* Dropper bottles
* Best airbrush metallics that brush on beautifully
* More likely to get colour matches with the rest of the Vallejo range, ie. VMA Fire red ~= Vallejo Red Oxid Paste.
* Older range, more likely to find colour schemes using it's colours than the new Minitaire
Minitaire:
* More vibrant, fantasy colours
* Glossy, which can result in it being harder to brush on top of it.
* Flip top bottles (I prefer these, it's a great seal and can open single handed so don't need to put airbrush down)
* Bad metallics. Really don't like the colour range, and they don't brush on well at all.
* Ghost tints might be of use to you
* Set comes with 3 varnishes, Matte, Satin and Gloss - which people say are all gloss to ultra-gloss (just a warning basically)
* Best price per volume - 30
ml instead of 17
ml. If discounted, you pay 1/4 the price/volume as Vallejo.
edit:
Here is a shot of my paint box with my Minitaire next to my Vallejo. All bottle tops have been airbrushed the bottles colour, might help you make your decision. Minitaire on the left, VMA the black lidded dropper bottles on the right. VGC mainly the grey dropper bottles int he middle.
