hey all
Just messing with some ideas, I think its mostly good, but could probably use some tweaking.
Here goes:

Rune Priest with divination and LL

x10 Grey Hunters, MoW, Wolf Banner, x2 Plasma, Drop Pod
x10 Grey Hunters, MoW, Wolf Banner, x2 Melta, Drop Pod

x5 Long Fangs, x4 Lascannons

Basically figured the Priest can buff the Long Fangs for accurate Lascannon Fire, while the rest of Russ' boys drop in near appropriate targets.
Not sure if the two squads of ten is good, or if dropping some upgrades and trying to add in another squad of Hunters would do better...

Thoughts?
Thanks!

the only benefit I see to the 10 man WG is the free Plasma gun, I am always mixed between LL and JOTWL but with that tactic I think LL is a better choice for sure. I would advise Runic armor for the RP just to help try keeping him alive.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm not sure I can scrounge up the 20pt for Runic without starting to lose bodies.

Anything think there's any merit in breaking the squads into smaller groups? Id lose one special weapon per squad, but could potentially cover more ground. Also, at 750, are both the wolf banner and MotW worth taking? That could free some points up...

Further thoughts?
Thanks

Your Rune Priest is wrong. You either get to use BRB powers or Codex: Space Wolves powers. You don't get to mix and match, its all or nothing.

Minus the Long Fangs, you are at 535 points. Your Long Fangs are only 175 points, so you have 40 points remaining. Did you mean to have 6 Long Fangs with 5 Lascannons instead?

At 750 points I'd just drop the Drop Pod for the Plasma Gun toting Grey Hunters Pack and use the 35 points to give your Rune Priest Runic Armor, Chooser of the Slain, and Meltabombs.

I would disagree with the above on giving the Rune priest runic armour and meltabombs. He is going to be sitting in the back directing fire, he doesnt need something to blow up tanks in close combat. And if he is being charged, a 3+ should be ample for anything at the 750 pt level that got through all the lascannons. I would also consider (keeping in mind I dont know what models you have) dropping the pods and putting your hunters in rhinos. At this points level, the ability to get from one side of the board, or back to your own objectives is invaluable. If you are worried about them dying, keep in mind that if you flat out forward and pop smoke you will have a pretty great cover save, and a high chance of ignoring whatever few anti-armour weapons your foe will have at this points level.

I would keep both the banner and the MotW, rending and rerolls on overwatch are way to good.

I would go with Missile Launchers instead of Lascannons on the Long Fangs, for versatility. I would use the points saved to give each Grey Hunter squad a Power Axe.

Missiles at this points level would be better very much doubt you will see enough av 14 to make it worthwhile having 4 lascannons

I see the point of missle launchers over lascannons at 750, but what about if take this army past 1000pts? The point where I will come across AV13 and 14 vehicles and the chances for MC's (and there are some with 2+ saves).

I guess by going to Missle Launchers over lascannons I can throw the points into a MotW Lone Wolf with two Wolf friends.

Anyways, thanks for the replies! Any other suggestions are welcome.

Missile Launchers are half the price of Lascannons. 140 points for 5 Missile Launchers or 135 points for 3 Lascannons. Each Lascannon ends up being around 40 points to the 25 points for each Missile Launcher. Even in bigger point games, its usually worth taking more Missile Launchers to save points for other useful things. Its common to see 2 Lascannons for 3 Missile Launchers.

So other than swapping the lascannons out for missle launchers, and adding the lone wolf plus two wolf friends(for fluff), any other suggestions? I'm not opposed to rhinos for the grey hunters, I've just always heard pods are the way to go with Wolves.

Ideas/thoughts ?
Thanks!
