In my experience playing DA and SM against chaos space marines, I can say this list lacks some certain scary elements. 1) Unlike SM codex, you have troop choices to use with your marine models other than tac squads. If you want objective holding, take small groups of cultists, they're silly cheap and if you keep the groups small, they can hide behind walls and stuff pretty well.
2) Heldrake. Get one. They're pants-wettingly scary.
3) for buff troops, take one of your HQs which allow the elite marines to be troops. Noise marines are hilarious against armies that need cover, thousand suns eat marines cause AP3, but Heldrake is better at it, plague marines will not fekking die, etc.
4) vindi and pred are good heavy support. That land raider is generally unnecessary as preds are cheaper offence, and you can DS the termies either with combi melts or fire to good effect.
Hope that helps

At your above post: bale flamer is the scary. Hades autocannon is mean but better on forgefiends

Ok, stupid question here. but can i mix chaos types? eg nurgle and iron warriors. and when I read the termie section of the latest codex, it does not list deep strike as a special rule.

thanks for the help by the way :-)

Iron Warriors do not have separate rules, it is all about appearance. If you want Nurgle Iron Warriors, nobody can stop you.

I am thinking as I look in the codex, the baleflamer heldrake and the helbrute with melta gun as this space wolf army is very heavy on tanks!!! then replace one tac squad with plague marines.

does this sound ok?

Ben.

First off, SW are monsters if you let them at your throat. It's best to play keepaways, so you should avoid such units as the Warp Talons (who are widely regarded as a waste of points anyway).

The vindicator is a good choice, as is a tri-las predator (Annihilator variant). By the looks, you're taking the terminators in a land raider, probably with the lord attached. That tactic only really works against orks or other CSM armies. You'd be better off deep-striking the terminators into key locations, and leaving the LR at home (for 230 pts you're getting AV 14 with split-personality disorder).

The Nurgle daemon prince should be taken with wings, power armour and the black mace. Fly it in when it arrives (do not deep strike it), vector stike as you go in. On the next turn, switch to jump monstrous creature mode, and assault something.

The Lord should be given the mark of nurgle, and the tac marines could then be used as plague marines in 7-man squads with two special weapons per unit (preferably two plasguns or two meltaguns). If you don't want plague marines, take the sorceror at mastery 3, and take the tac squads with a heavy weapon.

Furthermore, a heldrake with a baleflamer is a must. that str 6 ap 3 torrent flame template is a force to be reconed with.

Finally, give as many things the VotLW upgrade as possible. It gives them +1 LD, and hatred against all (loyal) Adeptus Astartes variant codexes' units.

Helbrutes tend to be taken with mixed feelings. If the SW's regularly get really close to you, it may be useful to have one.

My GF runs a Nurgle army and 9/10 times she tables me turn 3 or 4. And yes, she brings all the cheese.

3 Heldrakes
3 or 4 squads of Plague Marines
Typhus with termies
Nurgle Lord with termies
2 Vindicators
Nurgle Spawn.

Also doesn't help that the dice god favor her. (During an apoc game she made all but 2 of her daemon saves against her 4 heldrakes. Also 50+ shots into a daemon prince ON THE GROUND and made all her saves)

Space Wolves may have a lot of attacks, but Plague Marines can take it.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

If you're looking for tactics: shoot their melee units, dont engage them.
Kill their runepriests and longfangs as fast as you can.
Use a hammer and anvil tactic: surround their army with your LR and termies on one side and the rest of your army on the other

if you're looking for list advice: yeah your list isnt the best ive seen, thats for sure. Assuming you're playing 2000 point games and If you're open to buying models and what not, id suggest against Space wolves:

your DP (Warlord) w/ PA, wings, a mark (id suggest tzeentch, but you seem to want a nurgle theme, which is A.O.K), and black mace
2 heldrakes
2 vindicators with daemonic possession and TL bolters
your LR with dirge casters and extra armor and termies with all power axes, VoTLW, and combi-plasmas
2 squads of 7 Plague Marines with 2 plasmas, a combi-plasma, and a rhino with a mounted combi-plasma
2 squads of 15 cultists

Ride your three tanks up the side of the map [LR] [VIND] [VIND] using the LR like so to block your vindicators weak AV 11 side armor. This is where the hammer and anvil tactic comes in. cultists secure backfield and act as cannon fodder, decide their role for the game. Heldrakes need no explanation. DP should be carfully used. Maybe hide him behind your tanks. PMs shoot stuff and seize midfield.

Hope this helped.
