I've seen on some tutorials people painting heads prior to assembly, on a pin on a cork...

Who on here does that? Paints the heads and then glued it to the model afterwards? Starting a new army and considering doing this for my offficers / more characterful heads (a lot of the regular infantry have visored helmets, so not bothering with those...

Will this help really get at the head and make it easier to paint it well?

Thoughts appreciated.

If possible i usually clip around the spur where it normally attach so i can save the pinning time.

two real benefits is that if your airbrushing you don't have to mask. and second you get full range of the model so you don't miss places like under the chin or behind the head as some models can block access.

It also become necessary when you decide that the Cadian head on 100+ guardsmen is no good anymore, because it doesn't look traitor enough.
