So I had enough points to squeeze a fourth wave serpent into my list. It was either that or a fire prism/falcon. Looking at the falcon, its a definite no. So I had to choose prism or serpent. Now my list contains 4 heavy wraith cannons, and 5 wraith cannons, so I have a fair amount of high strength weaponry and am thinking the prisms beam is not required and unreliable. So I've come to the conclusion that I will purchase a 4th Serpent for a unit I never intend to deploy witihin, and just running it as a tank. To that end, I'm not sure how to take it. I have written it up as what I would call a standard serpent with TL SL, A chin cannon and holos, BUT what I am thinking is that I could take it with TL BL instead. Now I know I will not be able to TL the serpent shield in this configuration, but as I'm not running it as a hard hitting transport, I'm probably going to want to keep his shields up, so that might not be too much of a loss. My concern is a serious reduction in dakka. A TL BL is only a single shot, like the prism, but worse range. The bonuses for me are that they are on a more survivable platform, and at least they are TL without wasting the farseers guide!

Any thoughts or experiences? Suggestions welcome.

Just for info, I was instead going to take a unit of warp spiders and the wraithforge stone on my seer for my two wraithknights, is this a better option? or is serpent spam the way to win games?

Well, I played Serpent spam several times in the new (codex) edition. Its incredibly powerful.
For instance, in 1500 pts, I ran 5 Serpents and 3 Warwalkers against a conventional Tau army and wiped them almost out after 5 rounds. Commander was the only model left and ''on the run''. Whenever I can down the shields, I'm doing it.
For instance, in a team tournament I ran Eldar (1000 pts) and my buddy DE (1000 pts). Against CSM, one Serpent with 11 hits targeted a grounded FMC and wiped it out.
The list goes on. I dedided to play Necrons in the tournaments next time. Eldar Serpent spam is not funny for the opponent and even not funny for me.

Why not try a Nightspinner? I've recently ran with it and it's pretty great, if a bit unreliable(without Guide).

If sticking to the Serpent, then you do still need Scatterlasers. Don't forget, you're paying 145 points for that and you're not using it as a transport, so it needs to pay its points back by killing stuff. A single BL might kill something big like a LR once in ten games, but that's hardly common occurence. But the SL/SC/SH combo can reliably take out several things in a game. Only thing they can't touch is AV14, but you have your WK for that, right?

If going the Warp Spiders route, that's also quite nice, but be aware they will die. They're your only infantry and they're very fragile. So you're making it easier for your opponent's target priority. They will DS in, kill a tank and die. Often, if you're lucky and you roll high enough on their JSJ you can hide one or two till the end of the game to get Linebreaker, so there's usefulness in that.

All in all, having seen your list, I think either a Nightspinner and Wraithforge stone or the SL/SC Serpent are the way to go.

Night Spinners were better in the 4th-ed codex, with twin linked launchers. Now though, they get torrent.

Wave Serpents are now tanks, with units keeping their heads down in the boot.
The first one to pop runs for the objective.
