I'm not a fan of the plastic kit, so I was wondering what are good models to use / convert as a Tzeentch DP?

This is more fantasy bent, but 40k fitting models are welcome too.

I like the bird look, so models like that would be handy?

I have seen some DP converted with sphinx parts from the fantasy kit.

And there are a few alternatives in this topic: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/552272.page
(Most interesting is probably this link given in it: http://z7.invisionfree.com/wyrmling_x/index.php?showtopic=9270&st=0 )

Conversions are probably your best bet

If I had bird wings at the time, I would have used them. If I were to do it again, I'd try to use the Empire Griffon head and wings

I'm currently working on the same idea. I wanted something akin to LoC and Fateweaver as well, bird-like.

I ended up using Daemon Prince parts together with Isle of Blood Griffon parts and some converting. Looks similar to this guy;

The head and wings are the perfect size to fit the Daemon Prince body. I only used the Daemon Prince front and (with some great suggestions from Dakka) sculpted a back that fit the new wings.

Thanks guys! the one with the Griffon head looks really good, though getting the parts (and the Griffon) for it seems a bit too much (I might be able to find the bits though).

For the one using the plastic DP but with the bird head, which kit was that head from?

Also, what base size are DP? I have a model that could work on a 40mm base, but the 50mm might look a bit excessive on it.

I'm afraid they're 60mm, so you're SOL on that one!

Even in Fantasy?

But it sounds like it's going to be at least 50mm, so I'm going to need a bigger model.

Ah, my bad, I'm 40K focused with my Daemons, sometimes forget that they exist in another system too.

For WHFB they do indeed come supplied with a 50mm base.

You can get the Isle of Blood Griffon form bits vendors. I know Hoard-O-Bits has it for about $10-11 USD.

After that link above, I think I am going to redo my Tz DP using the IoB Griffon bits. That's the exact look I was wanting.
