I got a devilfish from my parents and don't know what to do with it.

Do I build it as a devilfish or get a hammerhead/skyray and use it to build both (buy extra bits on ebay)?

Also which ever way I use it do I give it drones or SMS?

If a Skyray I'm leaning more toward drones.
With a hammerhead SMS
With a fish I'm not sure.

Magnetize it, have all the options.

Crash it and turn it into terrain

Jkjk

Yeah magnetize it and use it as both.

Also you dont have to glue in the drones just leave it floating.

I'm no expert on magnetism, but wouldn't it be a bit heavy after putting magnets into the components? And surely the magnets cost more (+ bitz) than just buying a hammerhead?

Of course, if you magnatise it, then you get all three options, but you will only have one vehicle. Personally I would just buy a hammerhead/sky ray.

Anyways, if you are a clever Tau player, the you'd just use broadsides and have a skyray. Best of both worlds.

Its incredibly simple to magnetize and it adds basicly no weight

As well neodymiums are cheap (unless your buying one of those crazy sized ones that will crush hands)

Glue a washer (1" diameter with a small opening) into the under side of the top hatch where the turret is placed

Shove a 3/8 - 1/4 inch diameter neo into the under side of the turrets and walla your done.

ah thanks on that one

But still, I would prefer 2 separate vehicles

Then you have no choice but to buy two vehicles.

However, there's nothing to stop you magnetizing them both. Really, there's no reason to ever buy a Devilfish kit, since the HAmmerhead will make a Fish in any case.

Not going to lie, I don't really ever use devilfish unless I'm messing around. They always seem too expensive points wise for what they do.

Of course that might be why I have such a bloody hard time grabbing objectives...

How many Devilfish do you have? If you have two or three already, then by all means use it as the hull for a Hammerhead/Skyray.

If you don't have at least 2, then build it as a devilfish and use it as such. I usually field mine with drones, but SMS is a strong option.

I always put my 2 firewarrior teams in Devilfish. The main reason for this, is because far to often I've seen them die from imperial guard templates of doom, if I just try to have them sit behind an ADL. not to mention it gives them mobility thats badly needed, to either grab an objective or respond to another threat.

You don't even need to magnetize anything, I don't think. The turret can just pop on/off like a Razorback or whatever. Drones are designed to pop off it.

Yeah man, magnetize that thing and have it interchangeable with devilfish/hammerhead/skyray bits. I've just begun magnetizing everything and trust me, if I can do it anybody can. I buy magnets from http://www.kjmagnetics.com/ and they're extremely cheap. I also use an army painter hand drill, http://shop.thearmypainter.com/products.php?ProductGroupId=5, and a bit of green stuff so it's surprisingly cheap to magnetize models. Best of luck!

Only thing you may need to magnetize is the prow Burst cannon, which Hammerhead doesn't have. All the other weapons are swappable as they are.

But Tau tanks suck so bad in the 6th that the terrain option is really the best.

With the hammerhead/ devil fish you don't even need to magnetize. the turrets or hatch will just sit in the top without having to even glue it in.
