So a mate and I are going to start attempting to conquer the world of doubles tournaments....It has been left to me to come up with a competitive list. I am an Iyanden player, and he is a Tau player. I've tried to build a nice all round list that include models both he and I enjoy taking, at the same time staying quite competitive. I can see issues though, and that's why I want some advice?

1500 Pts - Codex: Eldar Supplement - Iyanden Roster + Codex:Tau

Total Roster Cost: 1499

HQ: Spiritseer (1#, 100 pts)
1 Spiritseer,
1 The Wraithforge Stone

Troops: Wraithguard (6#, 355 pts)
5 Wraithguard, 210 pts (+ D-Scythe)
1 Wave Serpent, 145 pts = Holo-Fields + TL Scatter Lasers + Shuriken Cannon

Troops: Rangers (5#, 60 pts)
5 Rangers, 60 pts

Heavy Support: Wraithknight (1#, 240 pts)
1 Wraithknight, 240 pts (Warlord)

HQ: Cadre Fireblade (1#, 60 pts)
1 Cadre Fireblade (HQ) [Tau] (Warlord)

Troops: Fire Warrior Team (12#, 108 pts)
1 Fire Warrior Team (Troops) [Tau]
12 Fire Warriors [Tau], 108 pts

Troops: Fire Warrior Team (12#, 108 pts)
1 Fire Warrior Team (Troops) [Tau]
12 Fire Warriors [Tau], 108 pts

Elite: XV104 Riptide (3#, 255 pts)
1 XV104 Riptide (Elite) [Tau] = Ion Accelerator + Velocity Tracker
2 Shielded Missile Drone [Tau]

Heavy Support: XV88 Broadside Team (3#, 213 pts)
1 XV88 Broadside Team (Heavy) [Tau],
1 Broadside Shas'ui [Tau], 71 pts = Bonding Knife Ritual + Target Lock
1 Broadside Shas'ui [Tau], 71 pts = Bonding Knife Ritual + Target Lock
1 Broadside Shas'ui [Tau], 71 pts = Bonding Knife Ritual + Target Lock

What do people think then? I'm quite new to allies, and to anything that's not eldar!

It seems like the only thing going forward is the Wraithguard.

Them and the wraithknight. The idea is to run a pretty hard gunline, and use the wraiths to hammer forward and clear objectives and heavy armour.

TBH the only thing as a tau player that I can see is the Riptide potentially being a liability.
Sure he's Ld 9 but if one of the drones are killed then he has a chance to run off the board plus his I've always found his gun more fun as a big blast vs. infantry and tanks.
Looking again the broadside unit doesn't need all 3 target locks since you only need 2 to shoot in 3 different directions.
If you drop the missile drones on the riptide and one of the broadside target locks you get 55 points which you can use to give the riptide a stimulant injector and the other broadside a Velocity Tracker making you Tau section look like this;

Elite: XV104 Riptide (3#, 240 pts)
1 XV104 Riptide (Elite) [Tau] = Ion Accelerator + Velocity Tracker + Stimulant injector

Heavy Support: XV88 Broadside Team (3#, 228 pts)
1 XV88 Broadside Team (Heavy) [Tau],
1 Broadside Shas'ui [Tau], 71 pts = Bonding Knife Ritual + Target Lock
1 Broadside Shas'ui [Tau], 71 pts = Bonding Knife Ritual + Target Lock
1 Broadside Shas'ui [Tau], 86 pts = Bonding Knife Ritual + Velocity Tracker

Assuming the Broadside with the Velocity Tracker has a Heavy Rail-Rifle then you have a S8 Ap1 Twin-Linked shot which has a higher chance to pop fliers in one hit, alternatively if the Broadside has the High-Yield Missile Pod then you have a bubble of 4 Twin-Linked S7 shots which still have a better chance to kill a flyer in one volley than the Riptide alone, and you still have the option to use the Riptide if you really need to.
Plus the 5+ Feel no Pain from the Stimulant Injector will make the Riptide far more beefy since you'll always have a 1 in 3 chance of not taking a wound after failing an armour or invulnerable save thanks to the Riptides' T6 (unless it's a instant death wound of course). The number of games I've had where I've taken no wounds on my Riptide thanks to this are ridiculous.
