Put velocity trackers on the broardsides. I would take away he shield drones if you want, and use the points for either more firewarriors or another crisis suit (sorry don't have my codex on hand so I can't give you precise points costs)
|
1. Go to FLGS on a 40K game night.
2. Announce to no one in particular "I have over 10,000 points of Space Marines".
3. Sit back and watch as some 30-ish Neckbeard who still lives with his parents not only disputes your claim, but goes on to describe his 30,000 points of Blood Angels and how he has been playing since Rogue Trader days... And yet you will have never seen him either play 40K or that army.
4. From here, you have several options. Continue the conversation, or just end it. Either way, I guarantee you will waste 1+ hour of your life talking to this guy. Have fun!

One shield drone is 12 points. Velocity trackers - 20 points each. So without drones and with 2 velocity trackers I've got 8 free points...
I think that flying units can be marked by pathfinders and then brought dawn with broadsides, isn't that enough for 750 points(where flyers are not very popular)? Without velocity trackers and without drones I can add one more crisis with plasma canon, flamer and early warning override and add blacksun filters to hammerhead...

Didn't think of that! Put in that extra suit, those 2 extra wounds can go a long way!

Hey there, IMHO I think crisis suits have become too expensive for small games us has this. For 161 points you could get 17 fire warriors which would own the suits. Also seen as you have an ethreal you want to be taking advantage of his pulse shot ability with more fire warriors, also 2 x 6 man fw's won't really be enough for objective capping as they won't be around for long. If I was you I would bump up the fw's to atleast 10 per squad. If your going to keep the crisis I would take the early warning off them and put velocity on the broadsides. Much better to intercept a flyer and down it with mass missle fire then let it shoot and try and shoot it down with your crisis next turn. I would drop the crisis, pump your fire warriors up and give the broadsides velocity and missle drones, that way you broadside unit will be killing flyers comfortably before they can do anything and you enough troops to grab objectives late game and will be pumping out a sick amount of shots with them each turn due to your ethreal, if you have any points left grab a basic adl for your sides and pathfinders to sit behind otherwise they are sitting ducks. I think with the two squads of pathfinders you won't need the extra bs from longsight so you would save 45pts there straight away. Just my 2 cents. Tell me what you think.

Hi nice looking list but I agree with spankingape for that point level make your fire warriors groups of 10 and if you go up agents any terminators have a team of three crisi suits each with two plasma and then give two of them tageting lock and one a flamer for over watch
But keep the broadsides as agents hordes it is very effective.

Like I said before, velocity trackers are too expensive for 750 points and useless, because you can't take a lot of flyers for such small format. I think another 4 pathfinders will be even more useful, then . Without crisis suits this army will be not very effective against heavy infantry with good armor. I thought about more FW's, but who can I sacrifice? The only option is to sacrifice 1 suit and longstrike, but longstrike is useful not only for BS 5, but for supporting fire. More overwatch is very useful for Tau in any case... Without battle test it's hard to decide...

Dude I apologise about the velocity trackers I was getting confused thinking they were the interceptor ones, I meant put ewo on your broadsides. Tbh supporting fire from a hammerhead isn't really worth it as it doesn't get a lot of shots and you always want it moving 6' a turn to get its 4+ jink, and you certainly don't want it near assault units so seems a waste of 45 juicy points to me. As for not having anything to deal with heavy infantry, if your firing 36 str 5 shots from one squad of 12 fire warriors who needs plasma rifles? That's enough armour saves to make anyone cry, especially with marker light support, plus in such a small game heavy infantry will be in minimal amounts anyway. By dropping the crisis you are then allowing yourself 2 decent scoring units who can fire up to 72 shots at 15'. And get some missle drones on the broadsides from long strikes points, the ablative wounds will help so much and extra missle pods never go amiss

So... Taking of elites gives me 161 points... So thats what I've got:
Tau
745/750
Recon Tau Cadre
HQ[ 1 ]
Ethereal (50pt.)
Troops[ 2 ]
12x Fire Warrior team (108pt.)
§ 12x Fire warrior (9pt.); Combat armour; Photon grenades; Pulse rifle;
11x Fire Warrior team (99pt.)
§ 11x Fire warrior (9pt.); Combat armour; Photon grenades; Pulse rifle;
Fast attack[ 2 ]
5x Pathfinder team (55pt.)
§ 5x Pathfinder (11pt.); Markerlight; Photon grenades; Pulse carbine; Recon armour;
5x Pathfinder team (55pt.)
§ 5x Pathfinder (11pt.); Markerlight; Photon grenades; Pulse carbine; Recon armour;
Heavy support[ 2 ]
2x Broadside Battlesuit team (188pt.)
§ 2x Shas'ui (94pt.); Broadside battlesuit; Multi-tracker; Blacksun filter; Twin-linked high-yield missile pod; Twin-linked smart missile system; Early warning override; Shield drone; Missile drone;
Hammerhead (190pt.)
Longstrike; Railgun with solid shot; Submunition rounds; Twin-linked Smart missile system; Disruption pod;
For longstrike points I can get adl, but I don't have one. And i don't think, that fighting without suits is a good idea...

Well best way to work it out is play test both lists and see how you feel, ethreal bubble on fire warriors is one of the best synergies tau have, if one of your friends at your lgs has an adl borrow that for a test game aswell.

So, tournament has shown, that roster is good only when you are lucky enough.... My hammerhead rolled all 1 to hit against necrons ab... So badluck...

you might try dropping 2 Pathfinders add one FW and two EWO to the broadsides. Then split the 24 warriors in to 3 teams of 8. That will give you a bit more scoring and make droppod lists a little less scary and the Rain of fire/Wings of the Zephyr both more useful.
