As part of this months painting competition at my local GW I got to pick the category and since I'm new to the area I followed last months HEAVY SUPPORT category (which I won with the Devastator Marine here: (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/559729.page) with a Fast Attack category (they had done Heroes previously). With the new dark elf kits coming out I've found the crew to the new chariot to look really appealing and I enjoy the sea based aethetics of the new kits. However since I only model/play warhammer 40K I have opted to make a small patrol force for the store (600 points) to get myself back into playing properly (they also occasionally got to doubles games which have a 600 point per player limit). The plan is to use the Venom kit from Dark Eldar and the new Dark Elf chariot kit to make a counts as Eldar Viper Jetbike (dislike the actual model for this) for a somewhat more Brutal Craftworld (spikes, skulls, without being DE).

I have spent the best part of yesterday playing around with the Jetbike to test my scheme, vehicles always having been a challenge for me to complete previously it was something of a daunting task. Finally I have settled on a nearly Saim Hann theme for the army but with white instead of black. The jetbike body is mostly done and I'm working on the detailing whilst I wait for the chariot to be released (and delivered).

C&C welcome

Oh, you suck. Not only is that very close to something I have in progress, but it's got a great paintjob, too!

Seriously, good job. I am currently working on something that will look almost exactly the same, even down to the "savage Eldar, but not Dark Eldar" look. Mine will have the High Elf chariot spearman arms (two hands-thrusting) on a guardian to represent the old Eldar character Nuadhu Fireheart from 3rd edition, who was a Saim Hann special character who fought from the back of a modified Vyper like a chariot. The under-hull weapon mount will be modular to be able to accept all the different weapon options, and the topside Shuriken Cannon w/gunner will be able to be replaced with Nuadhu himself.

So in simple terms, I approve!

Cheers, I'm fond of the hard edges on the dark eldar vehicle asopposed to the viper as it gives me alot more to work with painting wise to give a sharper effect. I believe our crews will look sufficiently different though, mine should consist of the female DE with whip (and pistol) as a crew member and then the male with scaled cloak as the gunner.

I had considered a similar looking vehicle for my Autarch on Bike but am still undecided if the size could be too big for that and could be considered MFA. Its just a shame that Eldar dont have a Chariot counting transport that it could represent, given that the Venom.Viper make an easy conversion to such things it really just seems like a missed opportunity (though perhaps a Saim Hann supplement will introduce something)
