Hey I'm stripping some miniatures using dettol and I'm at the stage where it goes all gloopy.
Was wondering if anyone has any tips for cutting through all that crap heard wd40 works but worried what it would do to plastic.
Any other products that might work?

The answer is more fresh dettol.

But dettol sucks as a paint stripper, try Fairy Power Spray / Dawn Power dissolver instead, or 99% isopropyl alcohol.

Dettol is all I have available locally so that's what I've used. Tips:

* Use the brown dettol, not any other kind.
* Use it straight. Don't let any water get near it - makes it goopy.
* When scrubbing, you can dip the (tooth)brush in the dettol or use metho to help scrub the paint off. I like using metho since it seems to help remove the dettol smell.

There's a big guide somewhere in this subforum too.

99% isopropyl cuts through primer (army painter black) in no time simply by dipping it in and brushing away with a stiff bristled paintbrush.

Local pharmacy should have some, I get mine on ebay litres at a time, Its useful for airbrush cleaning.

It doesnt seem to touch plastic gw figures, or the one finecast figure I tried.
