hey Dakka...

it's everyone's favorite bounty hunter, in splendid 72mm!!!

this guy was a lot of fun to paint...
my first 72mm mini...
it is a real challenge, working on the blends over such large surfaces...

here is the link, if you would care to vote:

i went with the studio scheme for this mini, even though there are a few variations i found in my research, as this was a gift to my girlfriend's brother for building our surf shop's website...
now he has one of only 500 copies, done to match the art card that comes in the box...
hopefully i did justice to the original painter's great paint job...

thanks for looking...
i hope you like him...

cheers

Very impressive! Much better than me....*shuffles to corner to study harder whilst crying*

I like the slightly darker scheme, makes the weathering pop. Congratulations!

I don't think many people fully appreciate how difficult it is to paint a model of this size to such a high standard. Well done!

Great work, how is the quality on the Knight Models? I have been debating on some of the Batman Arkham models just because I am a giant Batman fan.

"You are like a son and together we have all but conquered the galaxy. Now the time has come for me to retire to Terra. My work as a soldier is done and now passes to you for I have great tasks to perform in my earthly sanctum. I name you Warmaster and from this day forth all of my armies and generals shall take orders from you as if the words came from mine own mouth. But words of caution I have for you for your brother Primarchs are strong of will, of thought and of action.

thanks for all the kind words, guys...
i'm everyone seems to like the paint job...

this scale is big, and intimidating, but made for the chance to do some interesting texture on the cloak...
the cross-hatch really help cheat the blends into the shadows....

@Brokksamson: the casting quality of the KM minis is great...
i find that the smaller 32mm stuff seems to have a heavier moldline than the bigger stuff, but i think it is just a matter of the detail being so much finer on the small guys, which makes the moldlines seem more prominent...
for this guy, the casting was perfect, but i went ahead and clipped off all the small connections to pin and reinforce...
the targeter on his helmet, and the tip and nozzles of the jetpack, all had to be clipped and pinned, just in case...

overall, i am very happy with the quality of all my KM casts...

cheers

Great job on the painting! Bobba Fett is THE man.

My only gripe is with the sculpt itself. His neck is way too long.

SickSix's Silver Skull WIP thread

JSF wrote:... this is really quite an audacious move by GW, throwing out any pretext that this is a game and that its customers exist to do anything other than buy their overpriced products for the sake of it. The naked arrogance, greed and contempt for their audience is shocking.

yeah, SickSix, the neck looks pretty long in the pics...

something about knight models, maybe it's their sculpting maybe it's their resident painters. On their website their models have a really distinct style.

So you have to understand why I thought you took a photo from their website and posted it on dakka. Fantastic work.
