HI dakka, I'm attempting to run a themed World Eaters army using Berzerkers for Troops and Kharne as HQ. While I am aware that Zerkers are a rather poor choice compared to Plague Marines or other stuff but I am more focused on making a fluffy army then a tournament-sweeping one.
With that said, I would still like decent chance at winning games. I mean I enjoy games whether or not I win or lose but getting curb-stomped in this shooting heavy 6th Ed doesn't seem too appealing if it happens every time. So I need help on making a thematic World Eaters army somewhat alright army.

In short, I am attempting to create a cc-dedicated, footslog, Space Marine army. While foot-slogging seems to be the most "fluffy" one for World Eaters from pictures and texts - we generally tend to think of World Eaters as a mob of red Marines with chainaxes I feel - I'm not even sure how to make that work with the new 6th Ed mechanics. Any help would be appreciated!

In my mind a fluffy Khorne list would look like

Khorne lord + Bike
Biker group

2 serkers
Rhinos

Obliterz+Preds? Idk what the CSM khorne heavy support fluff would be

Ally Daemons

Bloodthirster
10 x bloodletters
10x Bloodletters
40 Hounds
Grinder

I'm generally trying to stay away from Daemons... I just don't like them as much. Plus, I feel that Berserkers would be very displeased if they don't get to spill the blood themselves.

Well... Given that zerkers are lobotomized, I don't think they'd care who's doing the killing, or who's doing what for that matter...

Kharn, the betrayer
Daemon prince of knorne, wings, armor, axe of blind fury

troops:
10 zerkers rhino
10 zerkers rhino
10 zerkers rhino
10 zerkers rhino
25 cultists escorted by kharn

Fast Attack:
Heldrake - baleflamer
Heldrake - baleflamer

Heavy Support:

autocannon predator with las sponsons
autocannon predator with las sponsons

This is a 2k point list, good old fashioned fun and the DP with the heldrakes keeps you quasi competitive. Kharn being escorted by 25 cultists basically gives you a 28 would kharn because they look out sir on a 2+

Hmm... I like the Daemon Prince with blind axe idea but Heldrakes and Preds...? Doesn't seem very... World Eaters. Maybe Red Corsairs but not World Eaters.

Khornate heldrakes vectorstriking and flaming gak seems very world eatery to me. The preds maybe not, but realistically you need something to take down heavy support...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I started as a CSM player, and gradually moved on to Chaos Daemons. If you like assaulting check out that army. It's super competitive and so much fun lol.

If youre trying to be only fluffy and are okay losing a lot...I cant see a list using masses of serkers winning ever.

Something like?
Kharn + red termies

Land Raider

Lord with axe and bike
Biker squad

Zerkers in Rhinos
x3-4

Maulerfiends
Drake

For Heavy, perhaps 8 man Havoc squads... 2x8 4 Autocannon squads aren't too pricey but can hold their own and are fairly resilient. Also, a Land Raider for at least one of the Berzerker squads. Seriously, these things always last longer than you'd think. And if they're in melta range, you probably assaulted and killed them last turn.

Thanks for the input. I suppose flaming turkey of hell can be World Eatery in its own way. I think I'll ditch the Preds and look more into Land Raiders or something.

Also, any thoughts on ditching Rhinos and running mobs of 20 Zerkers? Most likely not as... viable but still... they will make mincemeat out of anything in reach. The problem is getting them within reach...

The big thing about the Rhinos is they get you up the table 18 inches a turn... Pay for 5 point dozer blades so they never get immobalized.

But everytime I see Rhinos I go....

METAL BAWKXES THOSE KOWARRRDS THOSE FEWLLLLLLLLLLS

Also the image of mobs of Berkerzers kind of... revokes a good image of the World Eaters.

LRs and Greater Daemons running around with your Zerkers.

I enjoy fluffing it out with my Bloodthirster + Letters riding along with my Zerkers sitting in a LR spiky as all Khorne hell and Zerkers blowing their whistles for the Hounds of Khorne to run down their prey!

I think you would enjoy allying a small detachment of beasties from the Daemon Codex, but if you really want to stay away from them, try Zerkers in LRs and a Jugger Lord with some spawn

I think that's the best way to do it.

While slightly un-fluffy, I wouldn't mind seeing that for laughs.

First thing, don't take your berzerkers as actual berzerkers. Take them as regular chaos marines with mark of khorne and the icon. You get a more efficient melee man with a wider variety of potential gear.

If you want to run waves of khorne fodder to overwhelm your opponent, khorne marked marines can be cheap enough to run as a swarm. Take a 20-man squad, link Kharn up with them. That's your first unit.

Now take Fabius Bile as your second HQ, if you feel he doesn't fit with the Khorne fluff then model him differently, make him one of the psychosurgeons who lobotomizes zerkers. Stick him in another 20-man blob of khorne marines. Now take one last blob of marines, mark em up, and make them enhanced warriors.

Put a few packs of cultists in front of the marines. Buy a rhino for each of the marine squads, but don't stick anything in them. Just put dirge casters and destroyer blades on them, maybe a combi-melta, and use them as mobile cover, battering rams, and traffic diversions.

Your strategy will be as follows: Move forward every turn. Run if enemy is too far to charge. Charge with massive blobs if close enough. Funnel enemies closer with rhinos. Kick everything in half with bucketloads of str 5-6 attacks on fearless models. Murder HQs with Kharn. Ignore enemy fliers. Drown them in a sea of red paint (with brass trim).

Are you trying for pre-heresy World Eaters, Heresy World Eaters, or Post Heresy World Eaters? Because if you want Drop Pods, your looking Marine Codex. If you want Post Heresy, CSM Codex is probably the best choice.

I like the idea of World Eaters with Tanks. You can foot-slog and still have armored support, but yeah, I can understand your distaste of the Helldrake fig... maybe you can proxy something of the same size? I also don't blame you on not wanting bikes, specially when you can't put Kharn on one, or a Juggernaught. FW has some beautiful figs as well that you can use, like the Reaver squad.

To be honest, I think Badablack is onto something with the CSMs. A couple of 10 man squads with an extra CCW, mark and IoW or IoV with two special slots can be effective, specially using Flamers or Meltas. I would seriously consider Assault, er, Raptor squads as well (with flamers or Meltas) and then take one 10-20 mob of Bezerkers as your core. Have a pair of AC/LC sponson Preds and maybe a havoc squad or Oblit squad to give you the firepower you need. Terminators, like 2-3 groups in Termincide clusters could also be effective, though larger groups of Terminators (like 5+ size) with Marks and a Icon could be a scary unit or two in the enemy's rear as your foot guys move up.

You can pull off a foot World Eaters list, and t might not be as terrible as you imagine.

You could just play your zerker list in a non competitive environment? Sounds like you don't give a damn about 'playing properly' so maybe beerhammer is a better fit for you?

Otherwise, seconding the CSM "Berserkers". Way I see it, any assault unit with a base one attack is an example of terrible game design.

A friend of mine plays the same kind of fluffy WE army and he had a good game with me where he almost wiped me out but i won on objectives

his list was:

Kharn
DP - Wings, PA, Black mace, gift

3x8 zerks with gifts, LC

3x Land raiders with dirge casters

i know it doesnt fit your footslogging theme but it packed a nasty punch.

This sounds like the way to go. Lots of fearless marines can be scary, and these three 20 man units can hit very hard on the charge. With cultists in support, you will have a horde of scoing bodies running across the board, using the Rhinos (and cultists) as cover.

For what it's worth, I'm also trying to write a semi-competative and khorne/world eaters themed list. Don't forget to check out the forge world upgrade packs, just modeled the first set onto a squad of zerkers, and it looks amazing.

Here's the list I'm currently tinkering with, I'm not suggesting using it, it just might give you some ideas..

2000 Pts - Codex: Chaos Space Marines Roster

Total Roster Cost: 1999

HQ: Daemon Prince (1#, 265 pts)
1 Daemon Prince + Power Armour + Wings + Daemon of Khorne + Gift of Mutation
1 Axe of Blind Fury

HQ: Kharn the Betrayer (1#, 160 pts)
1 Kharn the Betrayer

HQ: Dark Apostle (1#, 125 pts)
1 Dark Apostle + Mark of Khorne + Gift of Mutation

Troops: Khorne Berzerkers (9#, 230 pts)
8 Khorne Berzerkers + Icon of Wrath 15
1 Berzerker Champion + Gift of Mutation + Chainaxe + Plasma Pistol

Troops: Khorne Berzerkers (9#, 209 pts)
8 Khorne Berzerkers + Icon of Wrath
1 Berzerker Champion + Gift of Mutation + Chainaxe

Troops: Chaos Cultists (10#, 55 pts)
9 Chaos Cultists + Flamer x1
1 Cultist Champion

Troops: Chaos Cultists (10#, 65 pts)
9 Chaos Cultists + Autogun x8 + Heavy Stubber x1
1 Cultist Champion + Shotgun

Fast Attack: Heldrake (1#, 170 pts)
1 Heldrake

Heavy Support: Maulerfiend (1#, 125 pts)
1 Maulerfiend

Heavy Support: Maulerfiend (1#, 125 pts)
1 Maulerfiend

Heavy Support: Chaos Land Raider (1#, 235 pts)
1 Chaos Land Raider + Dirge Caster

Heavy Support: Chaos Land Raider (1#, 235 pts)
1 Chaos Land Raider + Dirge Caster

So the raiders will be for the two squads of zerkers. The dirge casters protect them from overwatch, and they will be big, red, spikey and evil. I think maulerfiends are very khorne/world eaters style. And personally a flame spitting hell turkey kinda fits too. The apostle fits for me too. He can go in the opposite squad to kharn. makes them a little more dangerous on the charge and ld 10. So both raiders and both maulers will hammer forward turn 1 with the DP. The cultists are mainly there because of my choice of dual FOC. But they can hold back for the home objective. They can also be a pain in the b-hind, or be used as a meat shield.

Let me know what you think!

You sought to cower behind your walls, weakling? Instead, by the will of Khorne, you shall die behind them
