I've got an Eldar Wave Serpent sitting in my apartment built, but unpainted. I'm trying to figure out if I want to paint it up to match my troops, which are red and dark grey, or if I want to go in a different direction with it. I was all set to go with a matching scheme, but then a thought occurred to me. Back in the Rogue Trader days, Space Marines and their vehicles tended to be camouflaged, something that is unfortunately at odds with today's Spess Mehreens. I was wondering if there was any similar precedent for the Eldar. Did they have more practical color schemes back in the day? We never had any of the books detailing them back then, just the Marines, so I never saw any of their stuff. Would it seem completely out of place to have a camouflaged tank among my brightly colored soldiers?

That's what holofields are for.

Back in RT, SM powered armour incorporated a mimetic coating that could be programmed to display parade colours, battledress OR camouflage at the flick of a switch (it was described in the book with an illustration).

Whilst it wasn't uncommon for the eldar units to have a quasi camouflage (tigerstripe - but using BRIGHT eye-searing YELLOW), they tended to rely more on HOLOFIELDS and the like (Harlequins, for example. When they moved, their outline broke into a shimmer of colour with no distinct shape.)

This was then later adapted to vehicles. Starting with the Harlequin Jetbike (where the jetbikes ALSO got access to the reaper cannon) and then to the Falcon, Fire prism, etc.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Since Eldar kit is made of Wraithbone, I thought of painting any non-mechanical parts as bone.
But, the main body, as craft-world colours.

That doesn't mean the crafty Eldar don't use subterfuge and trickery in battle.
If Wraithbone can be sung into different shapes, why not other colours.
Camo-up, and go for it.
