So Having a 2500point Dwarf army in the pipeline, all assembled, based and primed... So now comes the task of painting them, and as Dwarfs are only basically armor and beards i figured i do something new with at least one of them . So I tried Nmm style (never done that before) on the armor.

Feedback and pointer appreciated

It looks quite good on that last model / pic! A little hard to see the details on the previous ones.

Great blends! A little tip, right now, the gold looks more just like "yellow heraldry", what I think you should do, is add a off-white as the the final highlight to the gold.

Looks good. As mentioned, I think some very bright spot highlights are needed just for the extremes

Photos are also quite yellow, try upping the blue tint in photoshop or checking what white balance settings you have on your camera. You might want a bigger backsheet too. I find a sheet of a3 white card works very well.

I love 'em!

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.

Yea my cameraskills are somewhat limited . The yellow(ish) light removes some of the brightness in colors.
Perhaps I will construct a Lightbox, found a nice tutorial.

Nice stuff, NMM s hard to pull off but you've done a great job here. For a first attempt at it that's pretty amazing.

It's possibly your lamp. I noticed a massive difference when I switched up to a 6500K daylight work lamp. I was actually very taken back by how YELLOW my old lamp was.

Thanks for the feedback (encouraging me to paint more and post more pics ).

I used bicarbonate (baking soda) in two steps. Step one is a thin layer of bicarbonate without anything mixed to it. Step two comes after step one have dried, I mix the bicarbonate with woodglue to make a nice looking paste that i put on top of the first layer, get the deep snow effect.

Yea I am using a cheapass Ikea lamp atm (I am swedish so that is not surprising ) so perhaps a upgrade of light is not such a bad idea.

Definitely your lamp. If using the low-energy lamps, remember to give them a good 15 minutes to warm up; they get a lot brighter after a while compared to when you first switch them on. A decent daylight lamp (2 tube type) and a piece of A3 card for a curved background will improve your shots massively. Also it'll cut eye strain when painting a lot too.

Gosh, I never quite understood how that setup could really work out for the dwarves. I mean, what kind of self respecting dwarf wants to lifted off the ground anyway?

Well besides that, they look terrific. Impressive nmm, especially being your first time.
