I'm about to start on my final DA terminator HQ model. I like to try and keep my models configured so they can be played out of the space marine and dark angels codex but my chaplain is causing me some strife. Trying to model a corzious arcanum from scratch is the issue. Its possible for the chaplain to swap that thing out for a relic with better stats (and I like the better stats). Should I model a relic in his hands using a mace the deathwing knights set, should I use the arcanum I made (see pic below) or should I use a sword of some sort. Also is there a good way to model an arcanum he is not wielding like a club?

It sounds as thought you need to decide where your priority lies; with either the better stats, or the better visuals. Both the crozius and the mace in the knights kit look fine to me, but that really comes down to personal taste.

Hard to be of much more help really without knowing what your background with scratch builds is. One suggestion I could make is to look up custom part manufacturers like chapter house, scibor, privateer press, etc and see if they have unusual looking items you can try.

Still a WIP, he has no shoulder pads in that pic, and his cloak is seperate.
Its made from parts off the Deathwing Command box, and the Dark Angels Upgrade Sprue that comes with ravenwing battleforces. And a Chaos Marine Head.
When I made mine, I looked to the crozius's that GW make, and they dont have the power pack part that you've left on.

As for making it swappable, How about magnetised arms?
Could you whip up a 2nd right arm, that holds your relic option? Or even both arms, although crux pads are an issue for the left arm usually.
