Granted this is on a rumor site, and it should be taken with a heap of salt. Article Here.
Supposing this is true, what would this mean for 40k as a game? I would imagine that people with smaller, more friendly games won't be affected. While I believe 40k is not "balanced' in any real sense of the world, the addition of FW will unbalance things even further. Friendly groups can choose on their own what they will and will not allow, as will tournaments. I potentially see problems arising when you're playing TFG at your local game store. A large variety of models, characters, and even armies could potentially allow hostile players more power to deceive and befuddle players.
If nothing else, allowing Forge World opens up more possibilities, both in a good and bad way. Army variety will potentially explode, though it may be limited by what the group of friends, local game store, or tournaments allow. Further more, the inclusion of FW models will likely be limited to those who are able to pay out the more hefty sum for the higher quality models. This could potentially cause further unbalancing of 40k as a game with some of the more potent units from FW's selection only being available to the players with the larger wallets.
What do you guys think?

There is so much misinformation in your thread about FW balance.
Also, its always been official. Official as you want to make it, as official as people not wanting to use double force org, or allies, or flyers, or anything else. Some people play with them, some people don't.
Hell, the FW books even tell you they're official anyways. Besides, all this is going to do is allow people to move the goalposts further for defining the officiality of FW.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I would strongly disagree. (Granted my experience is limited only to the orks.)
For something like 15 points more, you get a longer range gun, with a higher strength, no "Don't Press that", one higher armour on front and side, two free big shootas, and the ability to reroll dangerous terrain checks while moving more than 6". Now it is entirely possible that the Big Trakk is balanced and the Looted tank is just abysmal.
Oops. I looked and didn't find that. Sorry about the unneeded thread.

FW is already official, but if this is the final nail in the coffin of the last few dissenters, then it is about time.

Yeah, this shows how poor the balance is in the Ork codex, not FW. Its not like people saw the Big Trakk and immediately thought the Orkz were OP.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. FW is no better or worse than GW at balance. The small selection of overpowered units that FW does are still eclipsed by the selection of overpowered units GW puts out.

I will give you that the Ork codex is rather.... lacking at the moment, but imagine an army composed of Nob bikers for troops, Lootas in the Elite slot, and Big Trakks in the Heavy Support slots. Of course now that I think about it, that doesn't sound too bad actually. It sounds like it would almost bring Ork a bit better in line with some of the stuff that being played now.

Sadly it's not because said statement is in the FW Chapter Tactics doc and they still want " GW" to say it despite FW being a GW brand.
Go team.

Far as I have been told by staffers at my local GW store it is official as all store events and tournaments accept FW units but outside tournaments can choose to allow FW or not, reminds me of the Chapter Approved back in 3rd edition that legality of these rules was up to the discretion of who ever is running the tournament , I use to get a lot of GAK when I ran tournaments and allowed Chapter Approved rules.

It's 100% legal, just like Apocalypse and the Necron Codex. Some tournaments/clubs/people are picky about what they allow/include/want to play. Like the American League Designated Hitter, it's here to stay, but not everyone likes it.

Lol, the looted wagon is total gak compared to the equiv that other armies get. It was about bloody time we got a decent tank.
Anyone else notice the correlation between "plays a currently powerful army" and "no forgeworld allowed"? Its like its somehow unfair that a decade old codex like Orks finally get some stuff that brings them (remotely) to par with the other books.

I think the big thing about this isn't that it's going to be legal now. Rather, it's going to be understood to be allowed unless stated otherwise.
Hopefully, FW will even become a bit cheaper and easier to get a hold of? I've read some rumors GW is working on increasing the ease of getting FW models, but that's a long shot in my opinion.

You can do that now. Sue doesn't just mean to institute a legal proceedings against someone/thing but also means to "appeal formally to a person for something."
