The correct answer is.....nothing.
It's too many eggs in 1 basket to mount anything in the storm eagle, and having it drop to hover mode to let the guys assault makes it too vulnerable for a 300 point vehicle.
Storm Eagles and Storm Ravens work better as Gunships really. If you must put something in there I'd suggest 5 scouts for late game objective grabbing.

I'd have a disposable min squad with as much plasma/melta as possible.
If you must put cc in there, its got to TH/SS terms. Anything else, won't survive the inevitable crash as it'll get targeted by everything.

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives. |

This. A Storm Eagle with meaningful troops aboard is way too expensive. You're spending a minimum of 500+ points for a viable threat, and potentially 750 or more if you put a true death star on it. That's just too many eggs in one basket, especially when you can't deliver them until turn 3 or later. You're better off putting a token objective grabber aboard the gunship and spending the extra points on a separate unit.

i put a space marine praetor with two paragon blades and a couple of other bits of wargear and a full honour-guard with melta-bombs as their only upgrade inside it.
the praetor is kinda tasty with his 'sixes to cause ID' blades, and his honour guard have a nice trick in 'count as characters'. this means they pass a 'look out sir!...' roll on a 2+ rather than a 4+ - woot!woot!.
this was a complex choice - me and a mate came to the conclusion that the best anti-air defence in 40k was another flyer - we also agreed that the flyer which comes out last is the one which stays in the air (of course, he then focussed his game plan around forcing the opponents flyer out first).
i noticed that the stormeagle has 'deepstrike' and is also an assault vehicle, so my plan was to use this 'force my flyer out early' scheme to my advantage - deepstrike my stormeaglewhen he pulls this stunt, disembark the praetor+honour-gaurd in charge range of an MC or HQ, and instead of shooting as soon as it arrives, turbo-boost it off the board and into 'ongoing reserves' to come back on my table edge next turn (hopefully with the enemy flyer now on the board) to start its shooting proper.
so the decision deals with the 'flyer issue' while providing a 'monstrous creature-killer' to ward off wraithknights and other tyrannid-shaped beasties.
it is a little points heavy for what it does i must admit...

So many rule mistakes in so few words.
1) Even with the assault vehicle upgrade you still can't assault after deep strike. The assault vehicle upgrade only overrules the "can't assault after disembarking" restriction, it has no effect on anything else that would prevent you from assaulting.
2) A flyer can't go back into reserve on the turn it arrives.
3) A vehicle can't move flat out on the same turn that passengers embark or disembark.
4) Praetors and paragon blades are from the Heresy expansion/army list, while honor guard are a 40k unit. Even if you and your opponent agreed to let you take one as your main army and the other as allies you still couldn't put the two of them in the same transport.
