"Once upon a time there was a thread called Tale of four gamers thingy, which was awesome, but unfortunately there were just a few too many gamers for the thread to make any sense, and so they split off into three related groups and made their own threads and lived happily ever after."

And this is the one for the modellers, converters and painters (and also all the Dark Eldar and Daemon players, for some reason) among us. Each month we'll put up a monthly goal to help us get our army completed and make sure we don't slack (or don't slack too much), and post up our hobby updates and work in this thread.

Please note, we are not recruiting.

Let's get the introductions out of the way.

Ignatius-Grulgor

I'm Ignatius, Grulgor, or Iggy if you insist, I've been documenting my chaos army in some form or another since early 2010 when I really started getting back into wargaming after a big hiatus.

I've got a terrible habit of starting a million different things at once and never quite finishing them, often stopping all together for a month or so at random. Which is precisely why I'm getting involved with Tale of Five P&M'ers to give me some other slackers to motivate me, and to try and get some of my larger projects finished. I've already drawn up some concepts for titans and various other superheavies so I guess I'll be posting those here for a bit of variation once I've started them, whilst continuing the smaller stuff over on the blog: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/433727.page

So with that in mind the plan is to finally finish the plague tower I started in mid 2010, for me this will mean getting the pre-paint modelling stage completed before the end of November.

Goals
October: None. Success! (I guess?)
November: Get the pre-paint modelling stage on the plague tower done.

LadyCassandra

Hey, I'm LadyCassandra, or LC for short. My army is a bit of an odd duck, in that it's a Chaos Daemons army, but not one of any of the standard Gods. He's actually a god from an old WFRP supplement: Obscuras, god of fear, cold and darkness. As such, all of my models are converted to lesser or greater degrees and most are based off the old metal Daemon models (the edition just gone), with other bits thrown in for good measure.

Most of my work will revolve around sculpting and bitz-bashing for some time yet, I only have one model painted so far, but I hope by the end of this to have a legal 1500 points army.

Goals
October: Finish the green-stuff work on the Herald and Standard Bearer for the Shades (Horrors-counts-as). Failed!
November: Do October's goal and finish the chests sculpted on at least one unit of Shades (10).

Melcavuk

My name is Melcavuk (Or Ricki) and about a month of so ago I moved a loooong way up north and sold the majority of the 40K I owned at the time to aid in the moving fees, it left with me a majorly blank slate in scopes of 40K and for the first time in a long while I didn't have an army to play with. Having entered into my local GW's painting comp (Harrogate) last month I did really well and it left me wanting to get involved in gaming in the store and entering any competitions for painting/modelling going forward.
Spoiler:

My aim is to have a playable 600 points of my Eldar Pirates completed by February to be able to compete in Battle Brothers if I can find a partner. I have been dabbling with the conversions of a Venom to Vyper and have a lot of interest in the new Dark Elves kits to convert to my needs. 90% of my army will be based on conversions and kitbashes to create interesting units that keep me focused on the modelling aspects. Along with this I will be adding to a characterful Grot rebels force to add some more funny units but this will be made secondary to the playable Eldar force going forward.

Army List
Farseer
Jetbike, Singing Spear, Mantle of the Laughing God

Warlock Council
Warlock, Jetbike, Singing Spear
Warlock, Jetbike, Witchblade

4 x Eldar Jetbikes
1 x Shuriken Cannon

4 x Eldar Jetbikes
1 x Shuriken Cannon

Eldar Vyper Jetbike
Shuriken Cannon, Shuriken Cannon

Fire Prism

Goals
October: Complete 5 counts as Khorne Hounds (Grot Trappas on Untin Spidas). Success! - Show
November: Complete the Vyper I have started and to convert and paint 2 Warlocks on Jetbikes and 1 Farseer with Mantle of the Laughing God.

Eclipseone
*img here*

No special introductions.

Eclipse - a scale modeller trying his hands at warhammer models.

My army is a Lugganath Craftworld splinter cell, skimmers, wraithknights and dark eldar allies. My goal for the next month is to complete my warlocks, get 2 farseers for jetbike conversion and get a wraithknight. Army is all skimmers barring the knight.

Goals
October: Not entirely sure?
November: Complete warlocks, get two farseers for jetbike conversion and get a wraithknight.

The Grumpy Eldar
*img here*

I'm going for a Dark Eldar army with Asdrubael Vect or Drazhar, Master of Blades as its center. Though I don't have their models yet for either of those two. Their name will probably be "Kabal of the Flayed Maw." but I'm not too sure about it yet.

Goals
October: None. Success!
November: Finish the ??? squad and add a Classic Dark Eldar Lord, as he's FABULOUS.

Let me know if anything needs changing or adding to guys. Sorry about the lack of the images for the last three, looks like this weekend is going to be busy so probably won't be able to put them up for a bit but.. hey, thread! Go time!

I'll start with a post then.

I'll be creating a Dark Eldar army called the "Kabal of the Flayed Maw" I have a lot of fun ideas on how to bring back the name as a theme on mostly the vehicles. Like skin in the form of a mouth, sown together with rope wrapped around the metal of the transports on hooks. Just a little idea as I want my Dark Eldar to be pretty gruesome.

A small change of plan in my list. Asdrubael Vect and the Classic Lord are going to wait for a little while. I have chosen to convert Duke Sliscus the Serpent instead as there is no model of him.
At first I wanted to either use the Lokhir Fellheart model or the Black Arc Fleetmaster from the Dark Elves range as the base. But then my eyes fell on the robed Warriors of Chaos Sorcerer. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440108a&prodId=prod1250027a He looks thin enough to be good for the base. He's a little taller than a Warrior. So I'm going to pick him up tomorow, use greenstuff to take away the arrows on the shoulders, make him look a bit more streamlined overall and scrape off the chaos star. And then replace his head, weapons and gear with Dark Eldar ones. It might be a fun little project.

A little preview of the scheme I'm using with the Dark Eldar:

It's was pretty late so I couldn't make an awefull good shot at that time of the model. The yellow looks a bit brighter than on this photo. And yeah their skin is supposed to be that grey. I painted them like drows.

Best to get back to posting my progress now then, as mentioned I hit my last months targetwith 3 days to go, I could proabably of gotten it done alot sooner but a couple of other projects distracted me bringing me very close to the deadline on completion. This month I have planned out what I want/need to get done and plan to get them done in ample time incase of touch ups/crises arising throughout the month.

As mentioned I want to get a playable 600 point force completed for the new year and in order to do so I am going to complete a small savage eldar (craftworld) force around doing my grot/daemon force for a nice competitive and hopefully fun army to play. I'm using a Venom model as the base for my Vyper, and today will be collecting the new Dark Elf chariot to use as its crew as both are fantastic kits compared to the actual viper. I will also be picking up parts for my Laughing Seer on bike and 2 Bike mounted warlocks so everything is go.

Here is the progress on the Vyper (I actally started it at the end of last month to jump start my progress):

The theme is loosely Saim Hann but with more white/less black

Awesome looking vyper Mel, love the paint scheme.

Cool DE, Grumpy. It's hard to see all the details because its so dark in the room. I like the floor you painted!

I hope to finish the seers tomorrow, I keep updating my lists so may even need to build up a few extra :(

Working on a little something more for the Vyper, having done a basic job on the crew they have now mounted their vehicle ready to cause mayhem on the battlefield. Need to do some more detailing and a couple of decals outstanding aswell as debating on some weathering pigments.

Here they sit though:

Some work on the fluff for my Craftworld, currently only a loose frame work but I will be fleshing it out as I model up some more units for the army.

Craftworld: Belariok

Once a proud and martial craftworld, Belariok is now just a shadow if its former glory. In its prime the denizens of Belariok sought to reclaim many of the old worlds of the fallen Eldar Empire, unwilling to maintain their kindreds stance of distancing themselves from what had once come before their disagreements often brought them close to conflict with their bretheren. Belariok found its closest allies in Biel Tan, both keen to see their race reclaim its glory and prominence within the galaxy.

Some centuries ago however a mis-jump left Belariok stranded near the galactic edge amidsts a warp storm, micro rifts into the warp materialised and disappeared amidsts its piercing towers and gardens. At the very heart of the craftworld a larger rift slowly began to expand, tearing at the very heart of the world. Through the rifts all manners of Daemons of Slaneesh came, Belarioks citizens fought them on golden arches and in the low streets, jetbikes soared amidsts screaching furies, reapers laid low their ethereal foesin the darkness but still the foes came. Through the key rift came one of Slaneeshes favourites pets, a greater daemon began to feast on the heart of the worlds infinity circuits as the worlds Warlocks sought to cage it back into the rift.

When the battle subsided many of the worlds aspect shrines lay as dust, the worlds warlocks were tainted and mere shadows of their former shelves, renamed Soul Shriekers (Grech'Ra) by their kindred for the aura of discomfort that now radiated from their presence. The world had survived but only barely, now only capable of short warp jumps they were forced to scavenge and pillage from nearby Imperial planets to repair and resupply, their guardians becoming skilled raiders in the absense of their aspect shrines.

----

I will be making the Warlocks look almost feral in appearance, they will having given nearly everything they had caging the daemon back within the rift and left clearly marked by the experience. The list at 600 points includes no aspect warriors and the models will be more savage/brutal looking than craftworld eldar typically are.

Looking really good there grumpy, particularly fond of the sense of movement in the warriors and the striking bases. The Duke is coming along really well aswell, I've always liked the Sorceror you used as the base model and will be good seeing how he turns out.

The suicide Wyches squads people told me about sounded fun, not sure if the Duke has to be in one of the deepstriking transports.
Prolly adding quite some bikes and another Ravager when I'm going over 1K.

Ouch that sucks Eclipse, what went wrong with the colours? The progress thus far has been fantastic and I know it can really bite to have something small go wrong that sets off the entire miniature.

For my own part I'm still waiting on bits for my jetbikes (had to order shuricats from US) and been playing around with various bits going forward. Not directly related to my project but I have been painting! See an inquisitor:

Done for the new Inquisitor codex it's an attempt to do darker models without bright colours setting them off and more work on skintones.

The eye of terror

Well I've certainly failed my pledge for November! Hobby time went out the window, barely got anything picture worthy done this month, and December while not busy as such will involve a lot of travelling this year (and potentially more distracting things to glue together). Still though I shall 're-pledge' the tower and cross my fingers that I find some motivation and time. Everything so far looks gorgeous and big thanks to Cass for doing the compilation image for me (bit belated eh), I dunno how Melcav does it with the constant pumping out of minis.

I changed up my monthly thingy for a little bit. As I have a little tournament in January. So I'm working on my Crimson Fists for a while, at least till halfway through January as it's on the end of January. Now I have to paint one Extra Vindicator and another Scout squad. Finished the first Vindicator last week.
