For the simple reason that its all about winning..I know its a comp and its not to everyones tast but it looks like there not trying to make a decent battlefield on purpose...the same thing applies to comp game of russains v americans
in the bocage...yep seen this on FOW site. To me it makes the hobby look bad when we all should try are very best.
Go to a model railway show and see a crap railway....you wont . Come to my local show in Milton Keynes where
half the space is taken up by comps run by a club that says
its "not a competion club".....ooh worst show ever.
my 2 cents

Dude you are straight up trippin! I set up those tables and I did so cobbling together all the terrain I could.

Do you really think if I had a bunch of really nice terrain I would set it a side?

Also we are gamers we want to play games in a WW2 setting and we can't always get an Axis and allies match up so would you rather not play and have a good time with your friends?

I like the ones with the rivers running through the most.

Tournaments help foster interest in a game. I don't see why the other poster has a problem with them.

Well I dont know what your point is? You think everything should be to a Golden Demon standard? I hope you realize that most people have a hard enough time painting their minis let alone want to build terrain. Also that a Sarge from Warlord Games is not a paid employee of the company and has to make or do what they can with what they got when running a tournament or demo... and some people that are running the games are not made of money and time either. Perhaps instead of being rude you might step up and help them out and promote the hobby by providing some resources to your local tournament organizers and stores who run tournaments so that there can be more eyecandy terrain. You really need to stop thinking that the companies provide this for the stores and places that put up tournaments. I can tell you that all the demos and what not are all the person running the event and their friends and what the store and them all own or build for the event... and we dont work for places like Blue Table Painting and studios that might be able to provide a Vahalla Event or what not. Perhaps you would like to share tournaments you have run and the terrain you have built so we can see it in its splender

Thanks man I agree with 99% of that post ^ is I am not a Sarge but I was the TO. You are 100% correct I don't work at the store I am just a player like anybody else I just was asked by the store owner to run an event I dedicated all of my own time and money. The only reason I did this was to support the community.

See if you want new people to play you need to get more people in to the game. Yes I know sometimes tourneys can bring out the bad side in some people. However the thing the do best is bring us all together to devote all day to playing games and that sounds pretty cool to me.

Games went well it was Germans and Russians on top tables and they were on the pacific themed table for the final game it was a blood bath and the Russians pulled it out in the end.

Everyone one at least one game so that's good. I think I may have made the round times too long though. The round time was a 15 minute set up meet and greet time and then 2 and half ours of BA. Some guys finished games with an hour left in the round were other went up to the wire but everyone finished all there games.

Glad to hear it went well, in the tournament we ran recently we also had 2 and a half hour games and the exact same thing happened, some games just go quicker than others I guess.

I was actually very impressed with the look of the tables and the ideas behind them pretty evocative I thought.

Having run a couple of minor tournaments I am aware of how much time and effort (often unsung) goes into sorting it out.

I love to see some WFB / 40k Tourney Tables more like these...........
