I have a farsight model and have noticed that he is gradually falling over more and more.
Any suggestions how to prevent the model distorting?

How will that affect the model distorting? He's not literally falling over his leg is bending more over time.

I think you should take it back it sounds like a poor cast. I have one and he's fine

Heat. Finecast gets soft and starts to bend when it gets hot, keep it cool if possible.

If you want to reposition him just get a hairdryer, heat for a second then move it gently.

This is a material flaw within finecast itself; that it deforms under a normal ambient temperature range.
Its GW's fault for fobbing us off with a shoddy matrial - it doesnt matter how well it reproduces details if it cant even hold up under its own weight within a UK temperature range; we have no extreme highs or lows of temperature in this country, and the fact that this material cant handle even that, means its really not suitable for the job theyre using it for.
Take it back, demand a refund, do not accept a replacement, and convert your own from plastic kits? ... This is the best solution, and will eventually lead to the removal of finecrap from the shelves when they cant sell any.

For the price theyre charging for the stuff, theres really no excuse to not use a quality urethane resin, something like what they use at forgeworld. Or one of the many 3rd party bits producers; kromlech dont seem to have this problem for example... other producers wouldnt go near this crap for fear of it actually destroying their bussiness model when people boycott it.

The only thing I could see helping, is using a pinvise to drill up into the leg as far as you can in a straight line towards the hip and inserting a brass rod. 1/16 inch thickness should support it fine.

I was thinking the same thing. It'd be pretty tricky though.

I imagine I can't take him back now, too far gone. Instead I might get a plastic commander and use some farsight bits on him (ie sword shield etc)

Its probably still worth complaining to GW, their customer service is pretty good,if not their product development and testing of materials, they might even give you another Farsight kit if you complain just right

- this could easily be caused by air bubbles inside the piece making it weaker than it needs to be. Which would be a casting defect and warrent a replacement.

Probably badly mixed or bad proportions mix of the resin.
Pinning is probably your best bet.

This.

Build a new one out the FW suits. Far better material and nicer suits. Here's mine built from a Hazard suit, Shas'O Ry'Myr and an Eldar Wraithlord's blade.
