hey dakkanauts, my sergeant has a melta bomb, uses it in melee on a walker, and survives until the next melee round. can he then use it again, or has it been consumed?

i think he can use it again, my opponent thinks it has been consumed. the rules (both CSM 'dex and rulebook) don't say anything about it being consumed, and melta bombs are listed under grenades, which can be reused. he thinks because melta bomb is not pluralized in the CSM codex it is a one-time use. i would love some clarification.

Yes, you can use it again. There's no note about it being a one time use weapon.

Edit: Fluff wise, he never pulled the cord to arm the bomb as it didn't get stuck to the target.

Yes, he is assumed to have an unlimited supply of melta bombs. Deep pockets, man.

One shot weapons (Combi-weapons, Demo charges, etc) are pretty specific in the rules as being a one shot weapon or single use.
Regardless, the rule book also calls them Melta BombS (note plural).
So yep, that dude with "a" Melta Bomb can spend the game going from tank to tank blowing them up each turn.
