Subject: The Tarot of Loka by Riverhorse Games (Alessio Calvatore), Kickstarter
The artwork of the cards is by renowned illustrator Ralph Horsley (Magic the Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, Talisman...). Deviantart page (http://ralphhorsley.deviantart.com/)
The game is set in the fictional world of Loka, created by games designer Alessio Cavatore (Warhammer, 40K, Bolt Action, Kings of War, LOKA...), who is also writing the rules of the game.
As well as Ralph and Alessio, this project is going to be realised by the well-oiled team of River Horse – the company that brought you Loka, the board game, but also Shuuro & Turanga. As well as contributing to the games design and graphics and layout of many games and supplements, as explained on our website, here.
Alessio talks in depth about the concept behind the Tarot of Loka:
And that's not all, the deck will be printed by renowned tarot and playing cards manufacturer Lo Scarabeo.

Subject: Riverhorse (Alessio Cavatore) upcoming KS teased by Mantic
The end of the video shows what look like pretty normal playing cards, just with artwork on them... I really hope it's not another separate project from Mantic, they're spread rather thin already.
Hopefully it's Riverhorse's own project, and nothing more than that.

Probably just using Mantic's distributor network and possibly whatever production facility they use to have cards printed, etc.

Ralph Horsley is a great guy, and a great artist...
many of his pieces appeared on the covers of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay books, and in Inferno...
his wife is a very good painter, too...

Bear in mind please that this is a project by Alessio Cavatore's company Riverhorse (as stated in the title) and NOT by Mantic, they will handle the distribution side of things like they did with LOKA (just thought I would get this in here before people start complaining that they haven't finished Deadzone or Mars Attacks yet!).

From the mantic newsletter this apparently is due to launch tonight
they said they'd post on their facebook page when it did
The Tarot of Loka is a card game for the entire family, featuring an 80 cards deck, illustrated by talented artist Ralph Horsley (Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer, Talisman, World of Warcraft.)
Inspired by traditional medieval tarot, but it has been made more 'fantasy' and set in the world of Loka, where the four elements are at war, the game is very simple yet subtly tactical - literally only ten minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master. Alessio added two unique cards to make this deck unique.
The cards are highly evocative, but also practical, designed to be held in your hand with maximum visibility and practicality, without losing the elegance of the original tarot. As a result, they can be used as The Tarot of Loka game, as traditional Tarot, and as normal playing cards.
It's best to get in quickly onto Kickstarter, not only because of the savings on the early bird offers, but especially for the fact you can actually buy yourself the original pieces of art that Ralph has painted for the cards! These are all original, so there is obviously only one of each available, and they are of course on a first-come first-serve basis!
Alessio is launching the game on Kickstarter tonight and we wish him the best of luck– watch our Facebook page around 9pm GMT tonight for the link!

Depending on price, it looks like a worthwhile thing just to have an awesome deck of cards. Price is key though. $20 for a beautiful deck of fantasy playing cards, plus extra? Sure. $50? Nah, I'll pass.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Congratulations to all involved! The fate of the campaign was hanging on a balance for too long, but in the end - success! Last two days were looking like a surge, but then... where did these backers go?
