I have been toying around with Necron Allies or my Orks. The two Troop choices will be Warriors in Night Scythes. I am not familiar enough with the Necrons to decide what would be an effective HQ and bodyguard to man the Quad Gun at 301 points. I like the idea of a Destroyer Lord giving a BS4 shooty unit Preferred Enemy to re-roll misses of 1, but I was thinking an Overlord with a Res Orb, maybe Weave, with 3 Heavy Destroyers. The 36" guns should complement the 48" Quad gun nicely. Perhaps 2 Destroyers and an Eldritch Lance Cryptek? I am open to suggestions. This is my list so far:
Primary Detachment:
2X15 Lootas in Battlewagons
18 Shoota Boyz + Power Klaw Nob in BW
KFF Big Mek with Bosspole in a Loota Battlewagon
10 Grots + Runtherd
Ally:
2X5 Necron Warriors in Night Scythe
Fortification: Aegis Defense Line + Quad Gun
BWs behind ADL. Lootas to rain death from afar. Shoota Boy Mob to react to threats as they get close. Grots and Night Scythe Warriors in Reserve for objective grabbing/ contesting/ Linebreaker.

Necrons make for great allies since they provide a lot of firepower for low cost. When i run Orks with Necron allies, I try to squeeze in Imotekh. Night fighting helps buy me time for moving my orks up in Battle wagons and trukks. In addition Imotekh has ability to steal the initiative on a 4+ which is always great.
Alternatively - I'll sometimes run Trazyn since he's an overlord (so can have a RC) and is a scoring unit.
Lastly, if I'm bringing more than the 2 units of warriors, I'll probably bring a Destroyer lord; however, this is very limited in use. It is nice for Preferred Enemy on a quadgun but is expensive for such. Remember, 2 units of warriors in Night scythes and a barge is 420pts and adding a tricked out HQ is removing options from your primary force. Because of this, I've also thought about running just Illuminor Szeraz since he's just a straight 100pts and comes with an eldritch lance.
If you are thinking about running Necrons as allies - what is your primary force? Necrons as allies is a pretty standard selection of troops but it still takes the primary force to truly pull off wins with them.

Sorry Llama, I didn't post the rest of army. Edited my original post. I am running an Ork Shooty list, so no need for Night Fighting, and not too concerned with setting up first. Trazyn sounds pretty awesome. I will punch in the numbers and see what I come up with.

Well, I'd take an Overlord w/ warscythe, mss in a CCB. He is a one-man wrecking machine, really fun to play.

When he takes the CCB as a chariot, he doesn't really need or go well with a unit to guard him besides wraiths, but at that point you might as well take a destroyer lord with the wraiths.
An overlord with weave, phase shifter, warscythe and mindshackle scarabs is wicked in melee, let alone in a barge and able to make sweeping attacks like vector strikes in the movement phase, and a warscythe is great against pretty much anything.

Sekhmet - Dynasty 4000pts Greenwing - 2000pts Deathguard - 1500pts Daemons of Nurgle - 1000pts ~320pts

I understand now. You guys are suggesting a Close Combat HQ in a Chariot. I am not interested in a CC orientated Necron HQ. I would rather have a Warboss. I want something that will shoot AV12 Flyers.
I have decided to try out the Overlord with a Res Orb manning an Icarus Lascannon joined to 3 Heavy Destroyers. 300 points. BS4 with Preferred Enemy (Everything!) will hit ~78% of the time, and any snap firing shots will hit ~31% of the time.

Its not only a combat HQ. As said he can make sweeping attacks which is an effective way to deal with vehicles.

The Ork Codex can deal with vehicles. A CCB cannot sweep attack a Flyer, or fire an Icarus Lascannon.

First, putting Imotekh in as an ally as was brought up earlier is a bad idea. As your primary force is considered enemies, he'll have a chance at nuking your own guys with his lightning.
As far as heavy destroyers as anti air, this doesn't really work out as their hit chance is considerably lower than 31% (remember preferred enemy rerolls 1s, not all misses). Your best bet is to use mass S7 from night scythes, a quadgun, lootas, and maybe a dakka jet.
Having an overlord babysit a quadgun is kind of a waste as every rank and file troop has the same BS as them. I'd say you'd be better off sticking one of the 5 man warrior squads on it, next to an objective and then find something more productive to do with those 300 points.

I don't know orks very well, but it seems like you've got a good amount of shooty. Maybe consider Wraiths with D-Lord to threaten big CC damage. great threat range with that unit at 3++ saves. Put whip coils in there and you're going to decimate a lot of enemy

You are right. They only have a 19% chance to Hit Snap-Firing.
