Subject: CSM Land Raider about to get handed to my personal scrap monkeys. (AKA: Da Boss wantz a Chariut)

Well. Zog.
I have in my possession a CSM Land Raider, complete with Lascannons and an identity crisis.
Thus far, the only thing this Vehicle has done successfully is make me immune to being tabled by Orks who weren't expecting AV14 (A feat that I can manage more efficiently with my Necron Monolith).
Having recently rediscovered the joys of my Mega-Armoured Warboss, I'm thinking about converting it into a Battlewagon for him, as I do not feel that I can justify this thing's existence any longer in my CSM force.
But before the Grots get to work, are there any who can convince me otherwise (I'm still kinda on the fence about it)?

Pics? If it's a good conversion it might be worth keeping on the metaphorical shelf until the the next edition/ codex comes around.
To paraphrase the old joke, if you don't like the rules in 40k wait 5 mintues and they will change.

The thing is a green LR, and the conversion plan is to stick some armour plates on it and do some repainting
I'll see if I can be bothered to wait around for the next Waaagh dex though, you have a good point

I have 3 CSM land raiders, they were useful in 5th edition for delivering berzerkers. Not so much any more.
I think real battle wagons are bigger than land raiders. That's about the only reason I can think of not to convert it.
If you really do want to use a LR in a CSM list, it is an assault vehicle. Use it to deliver a 10 man squad of Bile-enhanced, MoS CSMs with flamers and IoE. There is a recent thread about that, I was just thinking about how tough that could be.

That unit tends not to be my thing, though I did recently discover the rules for the Chaos Spartan Assault Tank, as discussed here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/561695.page.
I am considering using plasticard or similar to extend the LR for the conversion, and take the Spartan for my LR needs (it's much more efficient).

mmmyesssss.... the Spartan Assault Tank is something I will be getting very soon as well.
Honestly, I think you could talk to whoever you play and say the LR is a Spartan, you are using these rules instead. It would be a good idea to battle test that beast before you invest in customizing it.
I am not giving up my 3 LRs, however, because they do look so nice next to my CSMs, Possessed, and Berzerkers.

XD
Why are the best looking units the least efficient?
Way to go, GW

It's a cycle.
The models sell because they look good. GW uses FAQs and new editions to nerf the models. Then they release new models and new editions restart the cycle.
Seriously, I bought a Salamanders and a CSM army from a guy in Ohio from 2nd edition. The Salamanders had land speeders, a razorback, chaplains, and a land raider. The CSM army had a greater daemon, daemonettes on steeds, and a bunch of noise marines. There was parity there, just looking at the forces you knew they were evenly matched.
20 years pass. Now we have competitive / mid-tier / nerfed armies, no one can agree whether forgeworld is legit, the interwebs is alight with deathstar lists, some players can only judge a list based on whether or not it's tournament worthy, there are homebrew codexes going around, infantry costs an average of $4.25 a model, and now there's even 30k to make everyone's bank accounts dry.
Seriously, I understand GW wants to be a big company and do $125mil in revenue annually, but it was more fun when armies were balanced and you had multiple good builds in each Codex. Someone needs to manage this stuff better.

If all codexes had multiple valid builds, GW would see better sales from everyone wanting everything, rather than haaving to make an effort to nerf/buff things an absurd amount.
Less work, more profit that way. But, no. GW thinks they have a better idea.
