Hey guys,

Just cleaning up some MG42's and I have noticed that the tabs the models sit on are very thick, this means even a chap kneeling is taller than all my other guys who are standing....looks a bit odd.

Is there any way to trim this (without sanding for about a year)?

This is what I mean

I know I am unlikely to see it from the table top but it looks a bit odd if I were to line them up on my shelf.

I have that same platoon and noticed it as well. The way I got around it was used some spakle. You glue the figures to the base and spread the spakle around the tabs. It blends the tabs in with your base.

I used a bastard file on some of my soviets that had bases a little too thick for my liking. Still took a little bit of work, but nowhere near as much as sanding would take.

Before the BF countersunk bases were available i was counter sinking my own bases using an R/C car body reamer.

i would set the infantry i wanted to use on the base and i would mark their position and ream out a hole until the infantry would sit within the hole. I then used thin plasticard cut to the shape of the base and glued it to the bottom. Now only minimal filler is needed to make taller bases fit in and to fill in any gaps around the base.

Thanks for the ideas guys, should reduce the size of the tabs and make the MG crew look about the same size as the rest of my army
