Hello dakkadakkians!

So I want to build an 1850pt word bearer army. I've started with the DV chaos set and have so far picked up a plastic demon prince, 3 oblits and a heldrake. What I want to do is represent the word bearers as I seem them from the books primarily, very fluffy. So that means a dark apostle, possessed, some csm, lots of cultists, dreadnaught/helbrute plus the not so fluffy demon prince, oblits and heldrake. So with the dv set in mind, im thinking about purchasing another chaos half from ebay or splitting another box with my DA friend. That would give me 2 squads of 20 cultists. I want to keep some of the chosen as regular csm, some I would like to convert to possessed, use the chosen champ as a dark apostle. Throw in a winged DP, and 2 helbrutes, oblits and turkey. I think I would need something sturdy to get the possessed into action, so a Land Raider should help and some icon of excess to keep them upright. Anyone have any thoughts if it so noncompetitive as to not be any fun to play with, or actually good, should I use the cultists as a meat shield for the possessed, and where is the DA best served?
P.S. I heard these was going to be a Word Bearers supplement at some point...Go Word Bearers, Lorgar rules! lol

You might find your possessed die quickly if they're on foot moving forward.

Hellbrutes are just awful.

Otherwise I like it! Although your troops may lack some staying power....

Not only do I agree with what Khaine says, theres a slight issue with your list. You would need to mark your Possessed with Slaanesh for you to take an Icon of Excess. I would also recommend leaving off the Autoguns/Stubbers on the 1st squad of Cultists and running all of them with Pistols/CCW, as they are generally best served as cheap as possible. In addition, on the charge, they can put out a very large amount of attacks, especially so when you retain their original weaponry.

Hey thanks for the input, I have a couple of questions. I understand the helbrute situation, that was more of a fluff addition as the warmonger was always a part of the host haha. What should I be doing with the ml3 in the dp? Also, what do I do against flyers? Thanks again

Depending on the fliers you face, use your winged DP, and Hellturkey to vector strike it to death!
