I don't play Space Wolves myself, but as a Thousand Sons player I have an unquenchable thirst for learning everything I can about them in order to slaughter them. A high percentage of my games have been against Space Wolves and their various builds.

This list is a 7. It stands an excellent chance against most opponents and is a solid SW take-on-all-comers build while remaining fun and not spammy. I would build a list like this for play against like-minded casual players, but I would probably win lots of games against "competitive players". There are *four* reasons why it is not an 8 for me, and I don't think a list without a combination of Long Fangs, 2-4 JotWW RPs *and* TWC can aspire to be 9-10. This last opinion is purely based upon my current/local meta.

1. Without Drop Pods (or Rhinos, at minimum), those melta guns would probably not fire unless someone Deep Strikes near them.

2. Wolf Claws require points (even though its cheap) and a free Power Axe can be superior if you're looking for spare points.

3. Anytime 5 WG Terminators are taken, it's nice to take a Cyclone ML. Additional light vehicle popping from a distance (even if it's just 2 krak missiles firing) will help if you are running a foot-slogging GH list. Against armies who can take out your Long Fangs reliably, you might miss additional anti-tank support at range.

4. Because: Heldrake. The GH need Rhinos if you want to mitigate Heldrake pain. Rhinos are not an auto-save, but they would make a CSM player choose Long Fangs as Baleflamer targets over your embarked Troops (and so the Rhinos would probably be suffering Vector Strikes at first before the GHs take Baleflamer hits).

They´ll get shot off the board when you just footslogg them all and your couple of Missile Launchers won´t be able to cover your assault. I´d rate this 5 at most.

thanks for the rate and review. Also i intentionally build it without rhinos, this is my 'footslog space wolves' list it's not that i dont have rhinos i just didn't want them for this particular list.

The terminators were already built with lightning claws, otherwise i would've fiddled with their loadout a bit more.

This list is about a 1-2 of 10. It relies on close range shooting and assault but has no mobility whatsoever. I don't know how you'd even use this...

Not trying to be mean, just saying you've paid a lot of points for stuff you'll never use. Idk how those Terminators will ever see Assault...

I take it you only EVER play against shooty armies, never ever at all not even in your wildest dreams facing armies that want to engage you in close combat or have short range shooting??

No orks, nids, or any other kind of cc oriented armies at all in your area? sheesh that's bland. I feel for you man i feel for you

Thanks for the review and comments

2, not good in the meta, out shot by the shooty out assaulted by assaulty. You will be out manuvered by almost every army, and a sitting Duck for drakes.

I give it a 2 as well. Things I consider problems:

1. Wolf Lords in Terminator Armor. Delivery is a problem, as is the ability to quickly react to changes on the battlefield. For less than 50 points more they can be incredibly more deadly and durable.

2. Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor. Deliver is a problem and you aren't taking advantage of the strengths of the Wolf Guard unit. Hint: Combi-Weapons are important!

3. Grey Hunters Packs on foot. Give them a Rhino or a Drop Pod or give them Plasma Guns. The Meltaguns are a waste. I'll leave the fact you chose a Power Weapon over Mark of the Wulfen alone, but there is no reason not to take a Wolf Standard in units of 8 or more models. Also, you may want to squeeze in a fourth 5 man unit of Grey Hunters...

4. A "foot" list without Cavalry. Sorry, but its needed. You need a fast moving unit to pin down key enemy units or to rapidly react to the enemy's own fast moving units. Especially since you are moving at the speed of Infantry with your entire army.

Put it to you this way: At 1750 or 1850 points I tend to have 40-50 Grey Hunters in Drop Pods or Rhinos with support. You have 30 because of all the points you dumped on your Wolf Lords, whom are easy to avoid. That's less the enemy has to kill to prevent you from winning. Since you don't have Drop Pods or Rhinos, you are stuck committing your Infantry-speed Grey Hunters to an Objective almost immediately in many games. You become more predictable, which is super bad.

Space Wolves has been my primary army since 3rd edition. This list is very bad. It would have been mediocre in 5th edition (I ran foot lists out of spite of mech lists in 5th) but its just no good in 6th edition.

I'd love to play this list with my Khorne, think it would be a lot of fun, and quite close!

I'd go for a 6-7 in normal fun games, unfortunately a 3-4 max in the competition scene (Sorry :-S)

And don't worry, I only rate my own list at a 5-6!

You sought to cower behind your walls, weakling? Instead, by the will of Khorne, you shall die behind them

Well you're asking us to evaluate the list competitively, shooting is the de facto method for removing models in 40k. I never said Assault can never work but it's certainly at a significant disadvantage.

That said, his list isn't even good against the armies you mentioned. Nothing really has the volume of attacks/bullets to threaten a green tide, Tyranid MCs laugh as they kill your troops and tie-up your deathstars with free gants, Chaos Daemons just plain don't care since they're better in close combat than this list anyway. Even if this list were facing another cc oriented list, it has no method for controlling the charge or who fights whom (the deciding factor in who wins the assault on Assault game).

The list is low on troops, low on shooting, has no mobility, and only mediocre Assault potential. I wasn't making a short-sighted criticism of the meta when I gave the list a 1-2, I gave it that score because it's really bad.

I never asked you to rate the list competitively, perhaps you should read the thread a second time?

Which is the reason why I facepalm every time i see people so eager to post suggestions and changes to the list which i specifically asked NOT to do as i have no intention of changing the actual list.

I'm NOT trying to build a tournament list, neither am i trying to make it more 'competitive'. I'm simply asking for a rating to get an idea of what the general consensus is and maybe some comments on the strenghts/weaknesses of the list itself not what should be changed.

I still can't wrap my head around why people can't just take the list as is and comment on it

I don't dislike your comments about the list being bad by your standars at all, but you said 'dunno how terminators well ever see assault' thats what I replied to as you only ever playing shooty armies that you seem to not understand how some armies might want to actually get into assault or assault range.

Akaiyou to rate a list it needs to be compared against something, with your non existent scale 5 for one person might mean something completely different to another, this makes rating your lists pointless without context and when people try to give you context you throw a fit. All your lists are poor because they lack the basic synergy and understanding of the game and your replies stink of pretentiousness I think a MOD should close all your topics as there is no bases for them to exist. Sorry dude the whole thing feels like you are just trolling.

There's no need to be rude to people who are just trying to help and give advice, why post them up in a forum that is dedicated to helping people build army lists when all you are seeking is peoples approval for badly built lists? This should be in 40k general maybe? Definitely not here. I agree with krankie, yet again another one of your spam threads need closing.
