Ok all, say Im allying Daemons with IG. I take a platoon with 4 infantry squads, platoon command, two heavy weapon squads, and then I take a command squad for the HQ. NOT optimized, this purely to help illustrate my question. This would allow me to keep 8 units in reserve for reserve/deep strike tom-foolery, as is common knowledge. Now my question is, what if I blob the infantry squads? Does it go down to 5 units allowed to go into reserve, or does it stay at 8?

Question 2. Do Independent characters count towards the total reserve numbers even if they are attached to another squad. Example, does a squad of flesh hounds with attached herald count as one or two units held in reserves? Does the same apply to units on the board? I have a feeling how this one plays, I just thought Id ask to be sure. Thanks for the insight.

2) Yes. BRB Page 124, "Preparing Reserves".

1. When blobbed up they are a single unit.
2. Either under the Reserve rules or IC rules (I forget which) in the BRB.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Ok, so now I found this little sentence at the bottom of the box about IC's on pg 39.

"While an Independent Character is part of a unit, he counts as part of the unit for all rules purposes, though he still follows the rules for characters."

Counts as a single unit? Or still two units?

2 units due to the specific rules under Reserves (125 from memory)

If you blob them they're one unit, and counted as one unit for Reserves.
