Hi guys,

So I've been wanting to start playing IG since rumors say they're getting an update next March. Regardless of update, I want to start collecting them. I love the way the DKK look, but I don't have the money for the Forge World models.

Do any of you know where I could get some model kits to convert them to a similar appearance? Preferably a store somewhere in the U.S., but not necessary.

Thank you all!

Victoria miniatures sell ish similar heads. But heck you may find all the bits you need on there to make a lot of guard regiments or a custom one. But the custodian heads on victoria miniatures have gas masks and helmets. no trench coat bodies though.

Hey BattleCapIronblood,

One popular technique is using the DKoK models intended for use in the Gorgon, cutting them apart and then basing each individually. They're not very dynamic, but they work excellently to quickly build up a large group of your standard guardsman, leaving only the specialized characters to be bought.

Also, here's a player who used that method, and posted an excellent guide. You can see at the end of the guide how well they came out.

Thanks! I had heard of this technique. I wanted to use this as my last resort though, in case I could find some good substitutes first :p thanks for reminding me of this though!

Howdy!
Here's some bits I've come across that might help you. They won't build exact DKoK, but if you mix 'em with GW parts you'll save a few quid.

These guys are a popular stand-in as well due to being decently priced. Only problem is that they lack options and might seem repetitive in a large army, though both of these issues can be fixed with subtle conversions. Oh, also, they're slightly taller than your standard guard.

Wargames Factory puts out a line of dudes called Shock troops that are pretty much Death Korps. Gas masks, trenchcoats, the whole shebang. They're about 20 bucks for 18 last I checked, but the reduced cost does mean they don't look nearly as good as DK. They're about the same level of detail as plastic cadians. They also come on pre-molded bases that you'll want to chop off so they don't tower over everyone else. Other than that they're about the most cost efficient way to get DK infantry models.

You're on your own as far as their vehicles are concerned though.
