This list seems like a pretty good semi-competitive list without being too boring. I would say the list is solid, good at both shooting and CC but doesn't excel at anything specific, I would rate it as a 7. The only problem I see is that your troops are pretty weak and you don't seem to have enough forward killing power to displace a lot of other list's hordes of fearless troops. It just seems hard to win the game against another semi-competitive list from another codex. I recommend getting cultists into the list somehow and find a way to make your troops more scary. I like how no two units are the same, but if you want to be semi-competitive as CSM you might need to add more firepower. The DP in the new CSM codex seems not cost effective enough, that thing eats up points and the enemy can easily tie it up or challenge him. I would ditch the DP and add more guns such as more havocs (units of 5 not 7), heldrakes, or obliterators. Those units will make their points up much easier, especially the heldrake. Too bad its so hard to make a semi-competitive CSM list without being too boring or spamy...

Considering what powers his DP gets he may get a witchfire or two that he can fire while flying. Make his DP the warlord and there's one VP that will be a bit harder to get. If there's one model that is a nuisance, the DP can just land and most likely kill it before it has a chance to swing a weapon. -the DP can be points effective if used correctly and not thrown on the board without a plan.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
and I have to of course agree the most points effective unit in the whole codex are the heldrake's. It would make the army even better if he traded out the DP for two more heldrakes- but thats mean and spammy

The daemon prince is definitely not worth the points because they only have 4 3+ wounds... every list has some sort of skyfire and there is a 1/3 chance when you get shot that you will crash to the ground and most likely lose a wound. The rerollable 1's is the only thing that seems good about his defense. He seems like a very risky model to field and like I said the points are better suited somewhere else. They are just too expensive for what they have the possibility of killing. In the games I have played and the way he looks on paper I can't imagine these guys killing enough to justify its cost.

I really want the DP for a fluffy, lockdown unit that can pretty much kill anything in CC e.g. Enemy Warlord and the likes

reason 1)because you have heldrakes

reason 2)because if all the chaos gods were to offer you something:
slaanesh would make you a grand seducer
tzeentch would make you a grand sorcerer
khorne would make you a grand warrior
and nurgle would make you really, really sick(wobbly model syndrome)

reason 3)your scoring units are foot slogging across the field with no transports and 1 has CC weapons meaning that unless its purge, big guns never tire(1/3) you may be slightly disadvanted
though this would only warrant a 4-6 not a 1

looks good. enjoy

The only reason I don't have METAL BAWKSES (Rhino's) because I don't want to spend heaps of money as I am only in highschool.

Daemon Prince can't be your warlord because you're also running a chaos lord who has higher LD. Character must have the highest ld to be warlord.

Hugging cover isn't the problem, it's the getting across the board to do damage... the range of those guns is 24" max, and with all the low AP and cover ignoring shots there are you really just have to get metal bawxes just to get an extra 12" forward.
