Subject: Dreadnoughts? On a Quad gun?!

Infiltrating Broodlord

A little bit of background, I've been starting Blood Angels and as I'm building a list toward 1850 , to maybe take to tournaments and have some fun, I've really been struggling with how to deal with fliers in 6th within the confines of my codex. I believe I have found an interesting solution by doing lots of reading on the Internet.
So let me get this straight
As per page 105 Gun Emplacement Rules, any model can man the gun (and receives a 4+ cover for being behind it)
A dreadnought is a model
As per the Interceptor rule on 38, a weapon (quad gun) can be fired at the end of the enemy movement phase, the weapon can not be fired but the firing model (dreadnough) can fire a different weapon if it has one (TLAC)
So basically, when something arrives from reserve, it takes 4 TL'd Autocannon shots (if it's a flier, these are at full BS) and then on my turn, it takes 4 TL'd Autocannon shots.
Now I don't know if this is some novel idea or not, but it sounds awesome to me since I was planning on using the same slot, and points cost, to field a much squishier, less accurate, less damaging squad of Devastators. Instead, I can spend those points on a dread to man my guns
Correct me if my logic is unsound.

This has been FAQ'd a while back, vehicles cannot man gun-emplacements.

Too bad! Great cheeky idea, @bocatt.
I have thrown Devastator squads of 6 (with a Sanguinary Priest) on the Quad gun Aegis line, with the Sergeant using his Signum to let the extra model shoot better.
But otherwise, we don't have a lot of anti-flyer options, other than the Storm Raven, which I can never roll well enough to get on the board in time to do much.

You could make an allied detachment of Red Hunters and use their Mnemonic Redaction Protocols to give your Devastators Skyfire for a turn. I have a similar issue with my Grey Knights (no skyfire aside from Stormraven or quad gun), so I'm going to give Space Marine allies a go and see how it plays out.

When I play pure DA (who are very lacking in AA) I would almost always include a Mortis Contemptor.
2 ideal builds:
- pure AA: dual TLLC and CML
- a bit more multi-role: dual Kheres ACs and CML
I personally liked the 2nd version better as it can handle many different situations and brings a major threat factor to the field.
