Decided to go for just 2 winged DP's, and no daemon allies - it means I can fit kharn in, and not mess around with dual FOC's. Please feel free to rate this list out of 10, and throw in all criticisms and thoughts. I'm open to listen to suggestions, but know that most I probably won't act on. Be very interesting to see what people think of the list though. It's supposed to be pure Khorne themed - so please DO NOT suggest different marks on any models. I am also dead against cultists. I keep trying to squeeze them in, and every time I do I end up dissatisfied - I just don't think they're very good.

2000 Pts - Codex: Chaos Space Marines Roster + Black Legion Supplement Allies

Total Roster Cost: 2000

HQ: Daemon Prince (1#, 265 pts)
1 Daemon Prince + Power Armour + Wings + Daemon of Khorne
1 The Black Mace

HQ: Kharn the Betrayer (1#, 160 pts)
1 Kharn the Betrayer (Warlord)

Troops: Khorne Berzerkers (8#, 189 pts)
7 Khorne Berzerkers + Chainaxe x3
1 Berzerker Champion + Chainaxe + Plasma Pistol

Troops: Khorne Berzerkers (8#, 171 pts)
7 Khorne Berzerkers + Chainaxe x2
1 Berzerker Champion + Chainaxe

Heavy Support: Chaos Land Raider (1#, 235 pts)
1 Chaos Land Raider + Dirge Caster

Heavy Support: Chaos Land Raider (1#, 235 pts)
1 Chaos Land Raider + Dirge Caster

Heavy Support: Maulerfiend (1#, 125 pts)
1 Maulerfiend

Black Legion Allies:

HQ: Daemon Prince (1#, 290 pts)
1 Daemon Prince + Power Armour + Wings + Daemon of Khorne
1 The Skull of Ker'ngar
1 The Spineshiver Blade

Troops: Chosen (5#, 205 pts)
4 Chosen + Mark of Khorne + Veterans of the Long War + Icon of Vengeance + Plasma gun x4
1 Chosen Champion + Mark of Khorne + Combi-Plasmagun + Veterans of the Long War

Heavy Support: Maulerfiend (1#, 125 pts)
1 Maulerfiend

The Chosen are there as my backfield objective holders, perhaps may even walk on from reserve.....The rest is for charging forward, all together at the same speed. Bezerkers obviously in raiders. The winged DP's, fiends and raiders are all as fast as one another. The mace is just an awesome weapon and allows him to deal with squads of infantry, as can the bezerkers and the other DP. I know the BL DP doesn't benefit much from the initiative boost, but being a daemon weapon grants him +D6 attacks, I know 30 points is perhaps a lot for that bonus, but I think it's worth it. I'm hoping to LR's full of bezerkers, 2 DP's (1 EW) and 2 fiends will possibly worry most enemies.

I believe the Black Legion supplement will allow you to have 4 heldrakes on the table, that's what I'm aiming for with my chaos :p

I think that's a 8 out of 10 for a khorne themed list i don't think it gets much better than that. Very powerful in your face list I like it.

I still say you could use the Rhino on those chosen though or somehow squeeze points for a defense line if they will be in the back field holding an objective. Not sure where you'd squeeze out the points from though. So Rhino remains my top suggestion but the list is still solid as is, if you make smart use of cover and terrain i think you can go at any opponent and have a good chance to win

Tau are specially vulnerable to daemons and FMC in general. You'll do well.

1. Tyranids - 15,000 pts
2. Chaos Space Marines - 7,100 pts
3. Space Marines - 6,000 pts
4. Orks - 5,900 pts
5. Dark Angels - 4,300 pts
6. Necrons - 4,600 pts
7. Grey Knights - 3,200 pts
8. Eldar - 3,400 pts
9. Blood Angels - 3,200 pts
10. Chaos Daemons - 3,200 pts
11. Tau Empire - 3,000 pts
12. Space Wolves - 2,400 pts

Thanks dude. I tried to squeeze a rhino in based on your advice, but I can't find the points anywhere! And I don't like rhinos enough to justify dropping something else.

The rating is very appreciated though, I'm happy with 8/10. Is the rhino the only thing you'd change?

Yeah i think your list and theme are solid enough. the rhino is the only thing i would change to protect the chosen as i fear they are vulnerable unless you are hiding them with some serious terrain.

I'd love to see a few picture/video battle reports of this and see how it fares i think you'll do really well.

1. Tyranids - 15,000 pts
2. Chaos Space Marines - 7,100 pts
3. Space Marines - 6,000 pts

I really like the list, the only thing that doesn't sit well with me is only two small groups of zerkers in two land raiders, I don't have the black legion supplement but could you turn those chosen into some cultists in order to beef up the zerkers? Cultist can hold your back field obj and with some more zerkers in each squad you get more chop chop. As for the rest of the list, very nice idea, I believe it will be very frustrating playing this list when everything hits the opponents gun line and goes to town tearing it up! Bonus points for bringing kharn!

I can take cultists, but in I'm trying very hard not too. I'm not a cultists fan unfortunately, though I see your point!

Think of the cultists as little interns in the khorne academy of blood, they are merely on a field trip to watch more professional khorne daddy's collect skulls for the skull throne and to give more blood to the blood god. One day, with practice and a bowl of wheaties, they too will be taking the lives of thousands of imperial citizens in their every growing fight against the false emperor.

I know what your saying, I just don't like the models. Yet again, GW have released something, and as it isn't for normal SM they don't benefit from multipart plastic kits, so they all look the same!

Ok, I can fit 20 cultists in (ones I own from the DV box set) kitted as owned at 110 points. It allows me to push one squad of zerkers to 10 and one squad to 9 each with 4 x chain axes and 1 x plasma pistol. That left me 20 more points, so I paid for a gift if mutation for each DP. It was either that or lashes for a single maulerfiend, but I like the magma cutters. So, are 20 cultists and 3 more zerkers a better option than. 5 chosen with PG's?

Or, y'know, exploding into a cloud of red mist at the slightest provocation, but either way works fine

Undoubtedly yes

I'm not entirely sure it increases the effectiveness/rating of the list?

I'd say 8-9/10. Good theme, competitive with lots of CC and multiple hard targets. FMCs will scare most people and let our maulerfiends survive across the board. Then there's the dual Land Raiders.. lots of hard targets to take out!

The one thing I'd change are the Chosen, though fluffy, are not points well spent for a backfield objective holder. 10 CSM with AC + PG + VoTLW would fare better i would say. Also gives you a couple of points left, for example for a further zerker and a power weapon instead of a chainaxe for your Aspiring Champ.

I love that idea! Let me fiddle...

Ok,

If I take 10 CSM with VotLW, an AC, a PG & an icon of vengeance for fearless, that leaves me with 5 points spare.... I much prefer that to cultists!

I think that's a very good backfield unit. Cultists I too don't see the point of, unless maybe with an Aegis line. But that would be very non-Khorne.

I want a mark of Khorne on them, but I can't find 15 points!!

OK, so now I'm finally home, I jumped on my army builder to change the list to this - I'm not sure if the icon of vengeance is needed, It does make them fearless though, and stops them from running off of an objective, which is their sole purpose!

Here it is -

Total Roster Cost: 2000

HQ: Daemon Prince (1#, 265 pts)
1 Daemon Prince + Power Armour + Wings + Daemon of Khorne
1 The Black Mace

HQ: Kharn the Betrayer (1#, 160 pts)
1 Kharn the Betrayer

Troops: Khorne Berzerkers (8#, 189 pts)
7 Khorne Berzerkers + Chainaxe x3
1 Berzerker Champion + Chainaxe + Plasma Pistol

Troops: Khorne Berzerkers (8#, 171 pts)
7 Khorne Berzerkers + Chainaxe x2
1 Berzerker Champion + Chainaxe

Heavy Support: Chaos Land Raider (1#, 235 pts)
1 Chaos Land Raider + Dirge Caster

Heavy Support: Chaos Land Raider (1#, 235 pts)
1 Chaos Land Raider + Dirge Caster

Heavy Support: Maulerfiend (1#, 125 pts)
1 Maulerfiend

Black Legion Allies

HQ: Daemon Prince (1#, 290 pts)
1 Daemon Prince + Power Armour + Wings + Daemon of Khorne
1 The Skull of Ker'ngar
1 The Spineshiver Blade

Troops: Chaos Space Marines (10#, 205 pts)
9 Chaos Space Marines + Veterans of the Long War + Icon of Vengeance + Flamer + Autocannon
