More deer than humans by more than an hundredfold here in Idaho, but there are still fools in the city-fied heights of our society that still think hunting is cruel in this day and age.
I think animals starving to death would be crueler, but what does a sub-urban/country hic from up in the San Gabriel mountains of Southern California know better about that than some PETA fool?
That is, even after having lived many other places in this world and then a good spell, two in fact, in Idaho know anything about animal management and feeding the hungry and disadvantaged in this here world?

I am here in Idaho basically because of my wife, who is from here.
When I was medically and legally gotten rid of by the powers that be, despite devoted service, this was the easiest place to go.
Would have rather returned to LA County where I am from, but did not have the means and wonder if I ever will have.
Even after a stint at GW, we ended up back here because, once again, it was the path of least trouble.

Any way, my profile says most of it that comes to mind.
I have been wargaming in some form or fashion since the early '70s.
"Airfix figures" will bring back memories for some of you other ol' fogies here.

BattleTech, in the mid-'80s, got me into sci-fi/fantastical wargaming.
Ran into GW with fellow troopers back in the early '90s.
Been into and out of GW games since, including a good spell at GW-US.
Like Warhammer Quest the best because my wife will actually play with me since that is a cooperative wargame.
She likes Talisman Third Ed. too.
And then there is Blood Bowl, but I will not prose on about that here now.

I hope I can come across firm but honest here.
Forums are sometimes difficult for me; my earnestness in expression has gotten misinterpreted before, at times due to my education and my experiences.
I have found that I can get misunderstood like Isaiah does as well due to the same factors in both our lives.
He had the education of the time equivalent to a number of modern advanced degrees and then wrote in poetic form rather than prose.
I will refrain from poetic address, but even prose style does not save me at times.

Well, I have probably missed loads.
Any questions for this old trooper?
On account of PerSec, I may not be the most open member of this board.
There I go showing my age.
This forum.
Any way, what else is there?
Say so.

You might get me a special visit from legal which will be more fun than the office politics was that got legal involved in the first place.

A piece of general advice to all: do not tell a supervisor several grades above you that he is wrong, especially in front of other management the same level as you, get told you are the one who is wrong and to do nothing about it by said supervisor, go out and prove that he was wrong, while doing so get yourself and other company assets damaged or destroyed, get approbation from non-company industry leaders for doing what you did - all when the guy is a political genius and his boss, despite liking you and knowing who you are, cannot do anything in your defense, all for the sake for the overall good of the company.
No, my dear Dakka-Dakka folks, that was my stupidity being exercised in overtime.

Welcome to Dakka, and remember, If the Chaos Gods did not want you to eat animals, they would not have made them taste so good ... off to get a ham sandwich now.

Now, we like big books. (And we cannot lie. You other readers can’t deny, a book flops open with an itty-bitty font, and a map that’s in your face, you get—sorry! Sorry!)

Thank you ... I believe.

Are you trying to make a point beyond the welcome statement?
Did I indicate I was a PETA abhuman or something?
Just curious.

Most likely OIIIIIIO was playfully acknowledging your opening rant about deer hunting and indicating that he too enjoys eating meat.

Hmm ... ookay ... if you say so.

A rant?!?
Again the vagaries of the Net - I sincerely hope..
If any of you think that my simple three lines was a rant, then you have one of two problems:
1) You have never had to listen to hunter's rights people or PETA persons go at it; (or other diametrically opposed groups)
or
2) Somehow, you have never really ever heard or read a rant, a real one.
I made a comment; I did not rant.

A quiet word of explanation.
I have experienced real ranting and I have never picked up a taste for it; that is putting it mildly and in the opposite direction from what I feel about ranting.
One of the fastest ways to get me angry, not just upset, at you, is to accuse me of this behavior.
Again, I have seen ranting in reality and its resulting destructiveness.
Please never accuse me of something I will never EVER do here.
End explanation.
Have a nice day.

Hm. I stand by rant. I suppose the synonym diatribe may also be appropriate for your deer rant, but I prefer the word rant in this case. Given the context of your initial post (a stranger introducing himself to a war gaming community by leveling an incoherent verbal assault against PETA), and some of your other postings throughout Dakka, you seem like a person prone to making impassioned statements regardless of whether or not the venue is appropriate. Or you know, ranting and raving.

I hope this post doesn't make you angry. I am super scared of what you might do if you became angry with me.

*edit note* Forgot to add the word "verbal".
