Hi all,

With the new Codex Inquisition comming up i was wondering about Troops choice in the codex. Grey Knights got their own codex, so they are out of the picture. So Imperial Guard maybe, or some new troops?

It will probably be a supplement with which you can play a henchman band (I assume along the lines of what SoB and Greyknights have right now) and a customizable Inquisitor, allied to another army, not a standalone codex.

This is all just hypothesis based on the small blurb on the website, and what we have seen in the rumors thread.

I disagree, if the new supplement was meant only for an allied detachment there wouldn't be warlord traits included IMO. I think it will be a full codex. For troops, probably Inquisitorial Storm Troopers and henchmen? We will know soon enough. =)

Well, the Digital Editions Facebook page did say that it was primarily intended to be allied to other armies, but could be fielded alone too. So it might not quite be a "full codex", but it certainly seems like it's shaping up quite nicely.

I'm assuming it will be mostly Henchmen Squads, as per GK (perhaps with a few edits), and I'm still hoping for IST, probably as elites. We know they have Priests (as per SOB, with luck), Land Raiders as DT/HS, and I'd be surprised if they left out an Inquisitorial Valkrie (Hopefully no Vendettas) . I'd like there to be a little more to it than lifting units from other codexes, but I can live with it if there isn't.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this works with other armies, as the FW Red Hunters rules suggest you can add an Inq element and still ally. If this is the case, then you've essentially got the whole of the Imperium (and some xenos) as your troops options.

I hear that the reason Warlord traits are in the codex is due to the line of "The Inquisitor may be the Warlord, even if he is not in the primary attachment." I know I read that, I'm just not sure where, so grain of salt time. Still, it would make sense.

I was going to bring this up also...
its going to have warlord traits because even as an ally... they can be the warlord

it goes on to say
who would argue with an inquisitor about who's the warlord...

something like that

But if digital editions say it can be a standalone dex then we are at least looking at an army that can be fielded alone. My guess for the troops will be just henchmen.

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

Are there any Henchmen models available right now? Search on a GW website shows only Jokaero.

There are a few, but they're all in metal and some are very old. Check the GW blog page from yesterday to see a list of them:

But really, the Inquisition gives you a complete blank slate for conversion, scratchbuilding and kitbashing, so the best plan is just to grab some plastic and let your imagination go mad!

Yes, i have seen that list. But all models there are just additions to a Inquisitor. In the previous codex (http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1050287a_Codex__Daemonhunters) Grey Knights and Storm Troopers were used as troops. Henchman were a set of upgrades for the Inquisitor.
With Grey Knights out of the pictures, it'll probably be Stormtroopers only.

Also worth nothing that the Inquisition codex is four quid cheaper than the AS codex, being only £15.99 as opposed to £19.99. To me, this certainly implies that it is a "lesser" codex. Thought to what extent, we'll see.

I'm wondering if they will have a slot-less Inquisitor unit, like the AS Priests, that can be fielded as part of an army's primary detachment. That's about the only way I can see FW Red Hunters being able to BB with AS, seeing as neither have access to an Inquisitor on their own, yet the Red Hunter chapter tactics allows them to be Battle Brothers to Sisters if an Inquisitor is present in the primary detachment. If so, its a huge departure from the FoC structure, and may be a great way to take 3 codexes in a single army list (like GK and Sisters use to do in 3rd with SM or IG main armies).

Just a thought.

Slotless inquisitors would certainly be a great idea, and I'd like to see a non-lord option with maybe 2W/A and 15 points, and with less options, maybe as a 1-3 elites choice that can attach to other units.

15 points for a model with 2 wounds/attacks? You're having a laugh.

When the 3W/A version is 25 points, and as I can see them with less gear options, I think 15-18 is a fair choice. 20 means there's no incentive not to take the HQ version, less than 15 is too cheap. Remember, these guys have guardsmen stats for T and S, and their WS and BS are not that helpful unless you chuck points at upgrades. Of course, there is the argument that 25 is too cheap for HQ Inquisitors in the first place, and 20 points for the 'lesser' versions would be fine if the better ones were 35-45ish.

Put it this way. My codex pays Librarian prices for guardsman stats with 3W/A in power armour.

Fair point. I do think base Inquisitors should probably cost more, but assuming they stay the same then there's not much room for making the lower-rank ones much cheaper while still making them an attractive alternative. Purely on stats, rather than already existing costs, I'd expect 40 for a Lord/Current Inquisitor and 25 for a lower ranking one, with lower stats (WS/BS4, W/A2, S/T3 and only access to 'normal' wargear, no conversion beamers/demon weapons/hellrifles ect, and of course no retinue options)

I can't see why they wouldn't include IST on top of Henchmen as there are models for them on sale already. If we get IST then we'll get chimeras for them as well.

Can't see the return of Adeptus Arbites or Rabble as there aren't models for them currently, which annoys me no end as I have a ton of the old models for both.

I'm hoping IST would fall under elites, as already I'm finding the troops slots for my list getting very crowded.

I'm sure there'll be options for counts-as arbites, and at worst you can ally IG shotgun carapace vets.

The book is out now. There are no Deathwatch in this book. GW Digital Editions expressed a desire to do something with them in the future though.
