Was wondering whether you could help me.

My local GW is running a Winter Crusade, start a brand new army and as long as you have a 1500pt army fully painted and sorted for end of Jan you’ll get a free trip to Warhammer World to use the new army on the boards against the others from the store. I’ve decided to start a new WHFB army after finishing my Ogre army. But not sure what to start…I’ve narrowed it down to either The Empire or Lizardmen, mainly because I’ve already got a cabinet full of unpainted minis for both armies back from when I was a kid, so it’ll save me some £££s when it comes to this.

I did try painting one of the Empire last night and struggled quite a bit, Ogres were my first ever painting job so still learning the ropes, there was so much detail plus didn’t really know what colours to do so it’s come out pretty disappointing. Though I might’ve tried a difficult painting scheme of Red and Blue opposite corners. Might just keep them red tops, blue bottoms if I keep Empire. I’ve not tried the Lizardmen but they seem rather more easy to paint with just a basecoat for the skin, deeper shade the scales, do the heads and weapons and it’s basically done.

So this is what I’ve got for each army;

Lizardmen

The Empire

So as you can see I’ve got quite a variety of Empire models while have a huge core collection of Lizardmen. Think it would make sense to start The Empire army, just worried about the painting side.

Just wondering whether people could give me a some hints and suggestions on what to start and what else I need for each army.
