Trying a large amount of bodies approach with a focus on objective taking and holding. Generally, the plan is to have the Tac Squads will combat squad for a large number of scoring units while maintaining a good firebase. Let me know what you think I can improve upon and any weaknesses.

I'd get pods for the LotD or at least the melta squad.

Don't really like grav guns on infantry.

Seems a little light on long range firepower for an army that's not all that mobile

Generally solid, however the weapons on your tactical squads are a bit off to me.

Lascannons in the transports will only snap fire once you disembark. I'd be inclined to swap them with flamers/meltas.

The las and plasma cannons on the "stay behind" guys would work well.

Also, not too much anti-flier for 1850.

Otherwise, I like it.

Lascannons snapfiring...that only happens when a unit disembarks???

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

I normally don't take auspex, but I'm guessing you were just looking for ways to fill points. Another option you can look at is a Calgar List utilizing lots of bodies.

I'm not a big fan of the plasma cannon. Those darn things just tend to not do as much damage as one would like. I would consider more melta, and just use them to kill backfield deck chairs or suicide into armor.

Why only 2 rhinos? I would leave the scouts at home. Your better off with 5 normal bolter marines and another lascannon. There is enough crap in the game that ignores cover to make 4+ save marines less then desireable. If your sold on the scouts, take a LSS with em.

Whats the locator beacon for? I saw hulksmash do something liek this at NOVA and it was very effective.

The ADL is really not as good any more in today's meta. To much stuff out there gives you the normal 3+ save, and a single quad gun is not anti-air. Look at the big armies out there -- eldar and Tau. Most of their guns will give you saves -- or else they will be ignoring cover and you won't get saves anyway. (Yes, buffmander and riptide I'm looking at you)

Thanks to everyone for their very helpful replies.

I suppose I should say that as in my OP, my rhino squads will be combat squading (save perhaps for the KP mission) so heavies will sit back.

I chose grav because if they are sitting on an objective they should be stationary anyways.

@astro: LotD can't take pods unfortunatley. I actually thought I had decent amounts of LR firepower but if it appears not I'm concerned. What would you add?

@smithy: Well for my rhino squads I plan to combat squad them as I really don't want those heavyweapons moving and snapfiring.

@labmouse: In short to many of your responses I lack a large SM motor pool (2 rhinos, LR, 1 drop pod, 2 Stalkers, Vindicator). I'd take more rhinos or drop pods if I had them.

Humm, I suppose I can drop the aegis for a stalker easy enough and maybe add a few additional bikers with the left-over points.

Oddly I like scouts because of the presence of bikes in the Meta. Since they can't climb levels in ruins they can't assault the scouts. Plus they allow for enemy infiltrate denial (I'm looking at you kroot).

The locator beacon was to help with the legionaries get up in the enemies face turn 2.

I get the idea of the locator beacon then. Given the LotD ability, you might be able to scrap it if your scraping up points.

I can understand the scouts. Everything is always meta dependent.

I fixed the link to the Calgar list. Sorry about that. The LotD can fit very well into that list.

What CT are you thinking of going with?

It seems to me if your going the 'bodies' route, that even the rhinos and stalkers are counter-intuitive. I do like the pod for linebreaker though. That's one of the reasons I also like scouts in a LSS

I get the lack of $$$ to buy more pods/rhinos. You often just have to work with what you have.

And moving.

But if they're moving forward, then they'll be snapping.
