hi guys and girls, joined up the other day and I figured It would probably be a good idea to post up a painting blog!

I've just got back into the hobby after about 10 or 11 years out of it, im still getting back into the swing of painting and trying to remember half the teqniques I once knew! but this site is an awesome resource and its really got be back into it!

anyway I've never really been one for playing the game much so theres no real structure to what im painting but I've got a vague idea of an ork speed freak horde that I want to build, with some freebooters on the side, but im sure other stuff will catch my attention in between, I've got a bit of a dark angels force too which im very slowly working my way through, although I think i'll probably grow tired of painting them and sell em on before I've finished!

none of these are really finished yet, and now I've got them up on the screen I can see there's more work needed on a few of them but it shows where I'm at painting wise! any tips or pointers would be really helpful!
oh and i'll be basing them with a desert theme, I've just not got around to it yet!

a few dark angel assault marines, need some more work on the weapons and fine details. I got dark vengeance to start me off and these are a lot better than the tactical squad i first painted!

dreadnaught, again theres a few more details i can see that it needs now, plus the base finishing.

jump pack chaplain, another ebay purchase like the assault marines, i need to get another shoulder pad to swap in but i couldn't resist painting it,

onto orks now...

a few storm boys, painted up evil sunz, a couple need finishing off, was pretty pleased how they came out!

one of the killer kans

and a nob and painboy

I've got some burna's and a boyz squad to paint up too, plus I've got some of the maximini ork pirate heads coming so i can make up a freebooters squad or two and some of the cybork heads to i can make the nob squad look a bit more cyborky!

i'll post up some more pics as i get round to painting some more! i'm rather a slow painter im afraid!

cheers

steve

thanks a lot!

well had half a day spare off work today so thought i'd get a little time in, bought another box of boys and nobz to make up some freebooters (mainly to give me a change from painting red and green!) was hoping the freebooter heads would turn up from maxmini but sadly no sign of them this week! I wanted to beef up the other nobz squad to 10 so I decided i'd do that with this box instead.

sorry for the low quality pics, im stuck using my I phone camera at the moment until I sort out a better light source for the proper one! stupid really! cant for the life of me get a good sharp pic with the dslr in the ambient light conditions, yet a bloody phone camera can get an acceptable pic!

anyway the nobz group is growing slowly, another 2 painted ready for bases!

another one made up...

a bit of a kit bash, body from the boyz nob, and parts from the nobz sprue, gotta love all the spare parts! gonna use him as the nob for the free booters boys, heads lightly glued cause I might swap it out for one of the new ones when they arrive, the harpoon felt quite apt!

quite a brutal looking nob, gonna use him as my warboss for the time being, I think he looks suitably 'ard!

and last but not least a mek and a couple of burners im in the middle of painting too.

cant wait to get my teef into the new models!

Cheers! They're starting to take shape I think!

Wasn't happy with the boss' shooter so i chopped up quite an alarming amount of bits to make him something proper orky!
Two shoota's the ammo chain from the big shoota, a power module off a rocket launcher and a much beefier arm that was holding an axe went into it! Pleased with the overall look now bit I'm sure I can squeeze some more detail on it!

Only a small mod but used the power cables from the rocket gun to make some hydraulic pipes up for the PK, bit of tweaking and a canister from an old tank kit I found in the loft and hey presto, only a little mod but details are what make them cool

And last but not least the last of the nobz who had a little tweak, took a surprising amount of time and trimming getting that big choppa up there! Only a small mod but it makes them all look a little different!

Hopefully get some painting done later!

Steve
