I know that's how the rules are written, I just don't think this is the way it was intended. It just doesn't make sense why it should be this way. In our group its house ruled to be just like a regular blast template.

Good idea, I haven't thought about doing this before. Seeing as mortar teams are so cheap for guard, I think that I'll have to add them to all my lists now.

Another tip you could make a vid of is quickly resolving multiple barrage weapons like TFC and Thudd Guns. I roll scatters and place dice where the center of blast goes which I can then roll wounds from. (perhaps you guys have other methods?)
