I'm proud of the fact that these miniatures have almost-normal bases (the Wraith and Assault Marine bases are the same diameter as GW 25mm bases, and only a couple of millimetres thicker). Each one is a little special in a different way; the Cairn Wraith has a UV bulb behind a glow-in-the-dark skull, the Assault Marine has a red LED in a jump pack that is magnetized and removable, and Cortana has all the components in a base that is indistinguishable from a normal 30mm base. It's a shame that the light doesn't reach Cortana's head, friends have suggested using fibre-optic cables to better deliver the light, I might try that in the future. C&C welcome.

Thanks! I was thinking about getting this one and trying to put an LED under Cortana in his hand, but she's just so undetailed I didn't really see the point (plus it would be a serious pain to do, I'm not at all sure I could pull it off):

I used these "PLCC-2 SMD" things a friend led me to on ebay:

Basically they're tiny and run on 3V so there's no need for a resistor. They also have even smaller ones that I'm currently using on another project:

Thanks! I find Haloclix to be better quality than Heroclix, but they still look crap compared to "proper" minis. A better paint job can help (for example: http://soulsamurai.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/master-chief-model.html), but I don't think I could do much for that one!
