Hey guys, having been a SM player for years, I have always wanted to start up a tau force as something different because their play style intrigues me.

I need help polishing off this list that I have in the works, It's only a casual list because at the moment I am only playing games with friends.

Here it is:

I'm a novice when it comes to Tau as this is my first list, to me it sounds good but I'll leave it to the experts

i have played as tau a lot and i found that pirahnas as good as they can be zooming to the back of a tank and popping it, is good. but at the low points i dont believe you need it. your suits look good to me. I would say at this point level you will want to have more firewarriors and keep a squad on a home objective and then the second to hug the crisis suits as this will enable support fire and utilise there dealy weaponry. Also look at some krrot with sniper rounds they are deadly and cheap espically since they can infiltrate. So i recommend taking out the piranha and either adding kroot or up the amount of firewarriors in each squad.

I think with the EMP grenades on the squads it has to be purchase for the entire squads making it +12 points plus the cost of 6 Firewarriors. Being a small game as well I would brake up the Crisis suits into one man squads elimanting the need for target locks. You really can't go wrong with a Shas'O and 2 Burst Cannons! You are also going to need a markerlight or 2 to launch the Seeker Missile. I would advise as well to drop the Pirhana, through in another 6 man firewarrior squad, with the extra points through in a couple of missile drones & Drone Controller on the Shas'O.

Its ok but the suit part of it looks very disorganized.

Id suggest, splitting the suits into a team of 2 and 1

the 2 taking all missile pods, and the 1 taking fusion + tl fusion

make your commander double missile pods, iridium and get him a PEN. its very useful throughout any point level.

get rid of the emp grenades, you have more than enough anti tank with a piranha and crisis suits.

Team leader upgrades are a bit of a waste of points.

As well as above the seekers are weak without markerlights.

As such try to twinlink weapons so you don't have to rely on it.

Thanks guys! I'm liking the idea of dropping the piranha and adding kroot to the list.

I'm also considering the changes to the crisis suit team.

I have a box of unopened pathfinders and was going to make another list making use of them, if any of you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them!

Are you set on going for a more suit based 500 points? If so I might recommend just going the Farsight Enclaves route, and not needing to drop over 100 points on Firewarriors.

At such low points I like to cram in a Sub-munitions wielding Hammerhead into a list. It brings a lot of template based firepower for managing troops, while still retaining the biggest gun in the game. It's less mobile now, to be sure, but still has good/reasonable armor that is harder to crack at lower point levels, and can make a good firebase to rally round. At 125 points it won't completely break the bank.

If your going to take a hammerhead then disruption pods are a must! 4+ jink save for moving 6' or less is insane. Personally at low points I like to have a full 12 man fire warrior squad with a fireblade in. Pumping 24 str 5 shots out at 30' inch range for 168pts is crazy good, plus you get a bs5 marker light to help the rest of your guys. If you want to take crisis suits then I would take 1-2 man squads, no more, you definitely want one squad with missile pod and tl missle pod, the other I would give fusion and plasma for ap2/tank hunter goodness. If you take the 12 man fw squad they can sit on your home objective pumping out death while you kroot infiltrate up the board and snipe.

I can see that route being a good one at 500 points because you can pack a surprising amount of firepower at such low points.
Having a Hammerhead would be cool and at125 points I think it could be pretty useful, thanks man!
