Do the multiple shots from a DE bolt thrower get a -1 penalty to hit? As far as I can tell only the Multiple Shots special rule incurs that. The bolt thrower behaves exactly the same as that rule, but doesn't actually say that rule. The shooting rules themselves don't mention non-one shots getting a penalty so they are only attached to that special rule.

Reapers do not take the penalty as they do not have Multiple Shots as a rule. This was actually covered in the previous FAQ, and as nothing changed in the rules I see no reason that logic would cease to apply.

I generally agree. But just to be clear, a FAQ that is no longer posted is no longer relevant. The fact it is gone is indication enough it is no longer in force. Otherwise every time they took down a FAQ they would also have to de-FAQ it in the new one, which would be incredibly confusing.

As far as I'm aware, the -1 to hit for shooting multiple shots is part of the Multiple Shot special rule, and not a part of the main rules. If a unit doesn't have the Multiple Shot special rule yet still fires more than one shot per round, I would tend to believe that there is no penalty. If they had intended the penalty, they would have just given in the relevant special rule.

As has been said: No Multiple Shot special rule, no -1 modifier.

I suggest you don't believe anything posted by thedarkavenger unless confirmed by other regular posters here at Dakka. He has shown he is incapable of basic English comprehension.

Case in Point - Ancient Stegadon blowpipes are Multiple Shots (2d6), but the razordon (which is in practice a multiple shot artillery dice, aka grapeshot) is merely Quick to Fire.

Reading the DE book yesterday, Repeter Crossbows and Repeter Handbows do have the multiple shots rule - on the army wide rules page

Automatically Appended Next Post:
This means that they do suffer the -1

They don't have the multi-shot special rule so no.

Yes - was thinking the thread was wider than bolt thrower, sorry if I had misremembered
