As the title says...... I'm after a decent grey armour recipe. Been toying with different schemes but not 100% happy with the out come. Any hints tips or offerings welcomed.

I spray 'em with Krylon "neutral grey" primer, then add a black wash and highlight with a lighter shade of grey (not mentioning colour since I don't use the here common paints, but ones produced locally (for example, on the GH's shoulders I use "christmas red" xD)

A lot of people like Adeptus Battle Grey as a base, then some lighter greys (Codex, Fortress) for the highlights or drybrushing.

Oh yeah, these are the old names, for the newer versions you'll need to consult that paint matching chart.

For my dark grey Wolves, I went with a spray of Vallejo Dark Grey Blue (54 of the VMA range), followed by a highlight of 3:1 mix of Dark Grey Blue to fortress grey, and then a black wash. Pretty fast and looks great. I used dark red and gold as spot colours, giving a nice muted scheme.

Hope that helps.

Cheers guys, I'm not a fan of spraying, I use imperil primer and got from there. Any other recipes would be great though lol.

My scheme would still work with a brush, it'd just be slower. Still perfectly doable.

I've looked at the compatibility chart and I can't find the equivalent for the dark grey blue, any ideas? lol

The closest I can think of is Fenris grey, but that may be from an older range as I haven't restocked in a while. Looking at the GW site, Mechanicus Standard Grey seems the closest. It's also a base paint, so should go well over a spray of primer.

I use a coat of black, then a coat of adeptus battlegrey (I think it's called...), then a heavy wash of black and then a drybrush of old Space Wolf grey (no idea what it is now), I have one of my batch-painted models in my gallery if you want to look :3
