Had a few battles recently and I've decided to put them all in the one thread for anyone interested.

Doom in the Mountainous Valley of Doom Lizardmen vs Skaven.

Battle Of The Biscuits Lizardmen vs Daemons of Chaos.

The Battle Of Charnal Pitt Skaven vs Orcs & Goblins.

Comments and tactical advice welcome!

WTF is that name of a battle report chickenbane ?
Is that a terribad google translate ?
"Le hameau avec des porcs" is "the hamlet with (containing) porks" .... sounds bad once re-translated in English

Good report! Appreciate the posts. On first reading of the scenario and armies, I figured you'd wither the unit defending, then pepper with trueflight and poison arrows. But I guess the Chalice put paid to most magical shenanigans...

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

Thanks for your replies. My own eagerness to evict the chaos Dwarfs from the Watchtower was my undoing! Here my latest batrep The One Tower. Hope you like it.

Thanks again for the reports- looks like some good lessons learned. I think in the future, you'll be glad to see those big towers from the skaven- hails of bowfire should put paid to the furnace, and if you manage to kill the guy on top before he hides in the unit, its a bunch of points to you!

There is not this idea.

These are a lot of fun to read! I appreciate that you include a little bit of fluff with some of them. I know it's not for everyone, but I enjoy reading reports that have that. And the amount of detail you go into for the game itself is helpful, it's quite clear what's going on.

Keep it up.

Thanks a lot. I like writing a bit of fluff but sometimes I wonder if anyone likes it. I like to give a lot of detail but sometimes I end up wondering is it too wordy. I try to follow the style of the battle reports I read in White Dwarf as I loved reading them, even if it was mainly the new army beats the old army to promote sales. So anyway here is my latest attempt The Battle of Magical Improbability.

That last one shows why I'm a bit leery of a lot of the End Times related rules. I ain't got an army that can deal with that!

Nice write ups, again.

I should note that the undead's ability to march comes from being with 12" of the general, per the "Undead" rules in ET: Nagash or the "General of Undeath" rules in Armybook: Vampire Counts. An undead general being a large target does NOT expand that bubble to 18". I believe that Nagash has a rule that does explicitly extend the range of his march bubble, but barring such a rule he would NOT allow undead to march within 18".

I'd say that targetting Nagash with Arcane Unforging might have been a better plan. Both his armour and ward save come from the same item, while melting his staff or his books will gimp his magical prowess. It's arguable about whether unforging "the Nine Books of Nagash" takes away ALL of Nagash's spells or only one. Either way probably a good call.

I'd also suggest dropping saurus for more skinks. 6-10 packs of skinks is what will really make a lizardmen army shine. All that poisoned shooting could have been chipping wounds off nagash, forcing him to spend dice healing himself back up rather than whacking you with spells or raising new units. There is no silver bullet for killing Nagash...the name of the game is juts "whittle whittle whittle."

We assumed (wrongly it now turns out) that Nagash's march bubble worked the same way as a general's leadership. Yes Arcane Unforging could have helped and yes I probably should have focused more on that. But I think I got obsessed with Deliverance of Itza . To be honest my poor dice with magic probably couldn't have saved me anyway. The reason I didn't go overboard with skinks is that my other main army is wood elves and I like to have massed infantry blocks now and again!

Thanks for your replies!

These are great man, thanks for reporting!

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Good fight, what did you think of Thanquol on the table? He didn't seem too devastating, dice or that's his real power?

Well fought indeed
Spoiler:
And against triple hellpits no less!
Another question about Thanqy, can he pick his spells? Because that was just about a perfect draw against you (Dreaded 13th being less useful against many WE lists, and especially so against all your ponies). Likewise the Plague spells.

Thanks guys!

I think he's tough, but a fairly well balanced special character. I couldn't damage him for the first few turns, and tbh Daith's Reaper is a bargain of an item for only 50 points, the rerolls saved me I think. Next time I'm probably going to run a level 4 Beasts mage hoping to get savage Beast of horros on him . Thanquols not awesome in close combat but fairly tasty all the same. I've been on the wrong end of many stomps (I play against Ogres a lot) so i'm trying to minimise their effect. Thanquol can't pick spells and Stuart rolled one double I think to get Howling Warpgale which is a right royal gak of a spell.

Good batrep man. I've played Khaine magic a few times, and we never player dispelled as "unsucessfully cast". Usually you'll roll 1 dice soon enough and actually fail to cast it.

My general impression on Khaine magic is that it works fine between 2 generic armies, but it is much more breakable than ordinary magic phase if someone decides to do so. I think I prefer ordinary magic, but khaine magic happens if either player wants so I'm forced to build for khaine magic nowadays.
