That certainly does need replacing, when the filter is worn out by organic solvents (I.e what you use to clean the airbrush with? most people will use some sort of solvent for that job)
In the spray industry they generally dont replace the filters untill you can taste the thinners through it.
For spray painting, one needs a mask able to filter out organic solvents, dust masks let all of that through. (mostly because theyre designed for dust and not solvents)
from the description of your 'maintenance free mask' ; ' No maintenance records required if disposed of within one month. '..... The gas filters always degrade in these masks.
The only truly maintenance free ones are full face, air fed masks.
