So I'm running into a serious brick wall when dealing with the daemon flying circus + screamerstar list vs my Tau army. Even when I managed to steal the initiative and my opponent flubbed the grimoire roll giving me 2 turns of shooting I couldn't kill enough screamers to make a huge impact. And he also ran two daemon princes (one was a CSM daemon prince) who came in and both made themselves invisible. When they got close enough one would puppet master a riptide and the other would enfeeble a unit. It's just awful. By turn two they were in my face and then it was pretty much over. My O'vesa star survived two turns of assault but the game went to turn 7 which gave him plenty of time to mop up his back field (I had two units of kroot and several suits making life miserable for his cultists and plague bearers).
So what to do? It's all of the stupid psyker tricks he's playing that just makes life really hard where as without them I could have a decent enough shot. It came to me while taking a look at Mike Brandt's list he ran at Battle for Salvation. At least I think this is why he allied with space wolves and only took a LR with a rune priest in it. While my Tau army does what it does best which is to cower in cover and shoot like mad men possessed the LR drives up the middle with a 24" bubble of 4+ psyker denial. Of course that will make the LR a bullet magnet for the daemon princes but they'll still need probably three turns to get to the LR, wreck it and then assault the contents. Dunno, I'm grasping at straws here. So anyway that's the crux of this list and the reasoning behind the SW being there. There's lots of Daemon and Eldar lists running around out there that rely heavily on psykers getting their powers off - gotta do something.

i prefer to use the farsight enclave supplement for the the sexy talisman gives you 4 chances to deny the witch helps so much against psyker's try to get a 3rd salvo broadside in there for extra dakka anything dies to tons of wounds they cant always make them 2++ unless dice gods love them it happens :( best of luck to to you also ripple fire them sms on the riptides more dakka. side note have you ever tried using sniper drones there so much fun against MC

Yeah, I've been running he O'vesa star but the problem with the talisman is that it's only an awesome deny the witch on the star - doesn't stop any beneficial powers. Now if Eldrad still screwed psykers like in the previous codex I'd HAPPILY take Eldar as my ally. I need to stop the Grimiore - which I just finished reading in the codex and realized it's probably not something that can be shutdown as it doesn't appear to be a psychic power. Drat. That sort of sucks. Still the RP will stop a whole bunch of other bad stuff from happening.

If you're taking SW purely for anti-psker, then take Njal
EDIT: Actually, Njal's storm effects might affect the Tau, so scratch that

Ever considered sob allies for this? Celestian command squad all with Condemnor boltguns make short work of psykers! Perils of the warp on a hit! You can get silly amounts! I know they are desperate but it's easy to keep a small number of sisters away from your tau, just a thought.....

oooohhh....I hadn't thought of that! I'll have to do some research on how the condemnor bolters work.

Basically, for every 'hit' you score on an enemy with psyker, psychic choir, psychic pilot etc they immediately take a perils of the warp attack (in addition to the strength 5 shot from the Condemnor aswell) so you could have a cannoness with Condemnor Boltgun, and 5 celestians with Condemnors, it also has a 24' range.
