My very first army when I started about 10 years ago was Necrons and I am going to start them back up, now that I have actual options when playing them.

I have read through the rules for Reanimation Protocols and Ever Living several times. I am failing to see how they are different.

Can you explain it?

Thanks

Everliving don't need a unit alive to reanimate, they always can, Reanimation protocls need a certain number of the unit alive to do it.

As above.

A model with RP that is waiting to come back needs other members of their unit to still be alive, otherwise it cannot roll. So wiping the whole unit means none get a chance to get back up

If they also have EL, they do not need members of their unit to still be standing - its just slightly different as to where they return where if the unit is still alive vs the rest all being dead.

They also Cannot use RP if the unit they are in has Ran from combat and moved more than 6" away (i think it's 6")

That way,then left

Cerbrus if a unit falls back you remove the RP counters, no matter the distance (IIRC)
