i am supposed to post on here and introduce myself. so.
howdy.
first off, i know there will be people here who are offended by my choice of name. if it becomes an issue, the moderators will make me change it, i am sure. but it's safe enough to have been my xbox live gamertag for 7+ years, so i figured all you dakkanauts could handle it.
i fell in love with the idea of
40K in college (i think it was 1999). i started buying (on Ebay--remember AOL dial-up? i do) and converting models (not well) then, and haven't really stopped, although there have been years where i did nothing with the hobby. started getting back into it recently, as my new girlfriend thinks orks are "cute", and i have money to spend now.
i went to the university of central florida for visual art, but changed my major to creative writing pretty early on--shortly after the head of the art department "misplaced" my portfolio. i have published poetry and non-fiction, an i am currently working on a novel in my non-existent spare time (think "Pirates of the Caribbean" minus the schmaltz, multiplied by the movie "Hostel").
i am a semi-professional photographer (by which, i mean i have been paid more than once to take photographs) on occasion, although i work 55 hours a week at my 'real' job. that doesn't leave a lot of time for
40k. but it does mean that any pictures i take of my work should be of excellent quality. in case anyone cares to look, some of my pictures are on flickr, and you can see them here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/madeonleapday/ i am very interested in scratch building and conversions. i consider myself a pretty creative person, but some of the things i have seen on this website amaze me.
