So I taught myself Haskell and wanted a little side project because it's just such a weird language to me. Calculating things seems to be its strong suit, so I set it to the task of calculating every possible outcome of N dice, and then filtering through them to find the successful rolls given certain criteria. In this case I tried casting values, the chances of miscasting/IF, and the chance of getting a spell from a lore if you have X tries at it (either via level or multiple wizards).

This helps me, thank you.

I'm taking a magic heavy army to a tourney today so I just took a pic of that on my phone :p

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Did you include rolling double 6s into account for auto cast?
Like there would be 1/36 extra for 2 dice and so on an so forth?

40K:
5000+ points W/D/L: 10/0/6
4000+ points W/D/L: 7/0/4
1500+ points W/D/L: 16/1/4

Fantasy
4000+ points W/D/L: 1/1/2
2500+ points W/D/L: 0/0/3

Yes, that's included. That's why the percentages level out to the IF value as the target gets sufficiently high.

1 and 2 autofail is also included, which is why it's a 66% chance for a 1+ on 1 die.

Not to steal your thunder but this is one thing I've used and I like. You can have however many dice, looking for a total, looking for a number or higher (or lower or equal). I make no provisions about it, since I didn't make it.

But like, if you have 20 archers who need 6s, your chance to do 3 wounds and kill a hero is 67.13%.
